* Place it as an "always on" adapter on your existing USB/Sync cable and remove only when you want to sync

* Turn a normal USB cable into a "charge only" cable

well most Nigerians, like the two posters above, will not appreciate it. i move around with a charger and a powerbank so i never have to use a charging hub. however, since the concept of juice-jacking is alien to most Nigerians, i wonder if i can utilize a rasberry pi to set up a juice jacking usb hub station to retrieve just contacts, sms and whatsapp logs.

You're right, I'm sure about 80% of Nigerian SmartPhone Users never heard of juice jacking, Honestly this is one of the means of preventing such attack on your smartphones.

Seems like a very innovative idea but I don't see the reason behind it. You may as well buy a USB to proprietary USB cable.

From the 2011 Defcon conference, it was observed that even such USB cables allow data transfer on some phones. The only option is to switch off the phone before charging.
By default Iphones need about 2A to pass through the data pins before it will charge or else it will tell you " Charger not supported". However, except you can automate iTunes I don't see how this will work on Iphones
