I had an encounter with the FRSC officers on duty along onitsha bridge head some weeks ago and I was informed that the cost of renewing my driving licence is #6,250. So today I decided to visit their office close to the Bridge Head in order to process it with my #6,250 CASH  .To my greatest surprise and disappointment, the officer in charge said it is #12,000 for renewal & #15,000 for Newbies  . Me: "Huh?! But sir, your colleague said it is #6k naa"Officer: " Yes it is 6,250 for FRSC, but you will have to go to VIO office for clearance, and some other agencies (I can't remember the names), after which you must have spent more than I'm charging you. Its for your own good" ME: " Okay Sir, Can I have my Old Licence. ( Pockets my licence and Zoom off) Please guys, why is VIO involved now, and what is the real cost of obtaining a Driving Licence. ? |

guy the frsc guy has done justice to your question. yes we ve a govt that design a system and put loopholes for corruption in the designed system. if only u can genuinely visit all these other agency and get ur certification genuinely without favor and most importantly locked in a database accessible by all relevant agencies then we would hv a foolproof system where with your #6,250 U genuinely get the drivers license and at the same time its cheap o @ #12,000. i just picked my own at ikeja for #17,000 after almost a year i hv captured. |
