SOME INCIDENCE OF FUEL TANKER EXPLOSION JUST THIS WEEK ALONE

A massive fire broke out around the Idimu axis of Ejigbo, Lagos state early Saturday morning after a tanker fully loaded with diesel exploded.

Casualty figure from the incident which started some minutes after 12am and still burning hours later are still sketchy.

The heavily loaded tanker reportedly ran into a building resulting in burning of several houses and properties.

The incident occurred around a crowded area. Many people are feared dead.

A fuel tanker conveying 33,000 litres of petrol yesterday exploded at Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos, at about 1 am, thereby injuring no fewer than 14 persons, gutting about 21 vehicles and razing 44 shops.


The incident also completely burnt down five buildings and six tricycles, though officials of the Lagos State Fire Service and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) later responded to the distress call of residents in the neighbourhood.
