Laudable step by the APC. This action will strengthen our democracy because at least majority of the members were given a choice on who they want as their speaker, not someone imposing a candidate and expecting every other member to endorse same, all thanks to the non interference stance of PMB.
If Dogara thinks he can gain majority of d PDP votes,no matter d joker he throws,he is being foolhardy. Eventhough he has d right to vie in the main contest on Tuesday, his stance in d face of an overwhelming victory for Gbaja does not portray him as a good party man.
He also cannot use Tambuwal's rebellion when he won the speakership as a parallel because then, majority of the PDP members to which Tambuwal belonged then also preferred him to Mulika.
Dogara should this honorably respect d outcome of this primary election.
Nd u think majority of pdp wants gbajabiamila?
Just watch out Na Tuesday
Expect Dogara drop his ambition

You seriously think some Judas-es in d PDP will not want to align with the ruling party?

Moreover, Tambuwal was able to win the speakership election because of his popularity over dat of Mulikat in d house. The same popularity and clout Gbaja have over Dogara.

Plus, who is this Dogara sef...Who sabi am and him work for house since him don dey there?

And remember, PDP is still a divided house.

You call political sagacity betrayer? No, the Yorubas are ahead in politics. The late former President of the Senate, Chuba Okadigbo knew what he was saying during the 2003 ANPP presidential primaries, when he held that "It is a sign of political sagacity to understand political arithmetics". Please go and take a class in politics.

You have a very disgusting take on this, if you people didn't practice tribal and regional politics your people or the easterners would have been the senate president but guess what you're all backward in thinking over there.. backwardness is your problem

@best what dogara would get is a share of d pdp votes and he would still end up losing because of d overwhelming APC votes for gbaja.
I don't honestly give a damn about either of them, but just like d fact that an honest, open democratic primary was held.Nobody would sanction dogara for trying his luck on Tues, but I bet you he wouldnt win.

How United State Speaker is Selected

The House of Representatives elects the Speaker of the House on
the first day of every new Congress and in the event of the death
or resignation of an incumbent Speaker. The Clerk of the House
of Representatives requests nominations: there are normally two,
one from each major party(each party having previously met to
decide on its nominee). The Clerk then calls the roll of the
Representatives-elect, each Representative-elect indicating the
surname of the candidate he or she is supporting.
Representatives-elect are not restricted to voting for one of the
nominated candidates and may vote for any person, even for
someone who is not a member (or member-elect) of the House at
all. They may also abstain by voting "present". [3]

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/
Speaker_of_the_United_States_House_of_Representatives

Note that it is stated that the political parties made the decision of
who to contest ahead of time. And each party only present one
person.

APC is doing the right thing

If all 61 APC lawmakers who boycotted the election and did not vote; the three who voted for Dogara; the 121 PDP lawmakers and the 10 lawmakers who belong to Labour, APGA and Accord; all decide vote for Dogara, he will get a total of 195 votes which is well ahead of Gbajabiamila’s 154 votes.

Laughable. It sounds like those permutations we used to make that Nigeria would beat Cameroon 6-1 to qualify for world cup.

I would put my money on a man who could muster 154 votes any day. The mere news that 154 lawmakers have endorsed him is enough to polarise PDP.

But how could an elected representative refused to honour the simple decision of his party executives. I think it is a sign of power madness. This man should be excommunicated from the party . May be he thinks it is still business as usual.
