Kogi Teachers Protests Over Inconsistent Payment Of Salary And Other Problems by juwoonn(m): 1:37pm On Jun 11, 2015
Teachers took to the street of Lokoja to protest today 11th of June, 2015 over inconsistent payment of salaries, non payment of four years leave allowances and arbitrary deductions in the half salaries received since September 2013, claiming there was a shortfall in the allocation during the Jonathan's administration. They were however attacked with tear gas by the security operatives, despites the fact that it was a peaceful protest.

The government of Governor Idris Wada has been terrible for primary school teachers and local government workers in Kogi state. The governor who refused to pay primary school teachers salaries in December 2014, had also refused to pay the teachers leave bonus for the past four years and had also been paying half salaries to teacher’s since September 2013 while other civil servants in the state have been enjoying their full pay since 2011. To worsen the situation, no promotion had been implemented since 2011.

A friend receiving 42K in 2011 (Bsc holder, level 8 )
Received N0.00 in December, 2014
30k in Jan, 2015
29K in feb
25k in march
19K in April
19K of May today, just after d protest
After half of the teacher's had been dismissed.
This is so terrible

Another senior teacher receiving 130K...received just 30k in d last 2months

This is serious.

This is the reason private schools are flourishing. Nobody will allow his child/ward to be taught by a hungry teacher.

Yet d mumu governor has started campaigning for 2nd term and he just gave N15Million to each local government to share to people at N500 per head. Kogi has 21 LGs.
