In the North Fulani speak Hausa. In Illorin they speak Yoruba; but they have their own language called Fulfude which they speak to among themselves. That Fula or Fulfude is the native language of Buhari and Atiku and Saraki and Tambuwal and Ribadu. Fulani are the geniuses of political organization.

They make their subjects feel they are one with them by adopting their native names and marrying their women so as to consolidate

Your great great grandfather was from Mali, but your father's surname was Saraki: a yoruba surname; Your father's first name was Sola, he married a yoruba woman and he named his son: Bukola & his daughter: Gbemisola.
Now tell us how un-fulani can you get, stop dwelling on the confused foundations of Ilorin to peddle political lies. A real fulani man will never bear a yoruba name, because every African is proud of their heritage, and our names serve as a reminder of where we come from.
If the Sarakis say they are Fulani (which is not hard to believe giving the history of the North) then we should all respect
that.

Na u name ogiso...make Benin man no catch u for this blasphemy

Bad revisionism at work again.

Oba is a yoruba word and not edo. Read up.

what is the meaning of Omo N'Oba ------ Omo ni Oba. Is that yoruba or edo?

Their king's title of Ogiso was changed to Oba.

acknowledging ur fulani ancestry is different from being fulani

Take the case of the Nupe Etsu who is of Igala ancestry, does that make him an Igala man?
You people should use ur common sense

Damn! Bigotry really sucks intelligence out of you all

Listen Saraki is a Yoruba word just like Gambari (the word for fulani) ...jst like Seriki
What we say is that they are borrowed words from the north

English language is 80% borrowed words

Start using common sense please

That is the reason Saraki can never be president of Nigeria.Yoruba will regard him as Fulani and Fulani will see him as a Yoruba.

I understand you very well I know seriki is a borrowed word,i might be wrong but in what context have you heard yorubas use the word saraki?some one just said saraki eniyan means popular person and I said have never heard of such before in yoruba language, we all know what seriki means and what gambari too but the word or name saraki is not Yoruba in any way or form.

Are you not ashamed of yourselves? A full grown intelligent adult man states that he is Fulani and not Yoruba and you're here dragging and claiming him by fire by force. Please leave the Serkis/Sarakis alone because they know their origin.
Or do you want to distort history again as in Oduduwa fell from the sky story?
but they had a yoruba mum...and she can name him any yoruba name but that doesnt change the fact that the man is a fulani...which he said by himself ...so why this argument?

Bro, the guy you quoted has told you the truth. There is no fulani man that does not have his family name in Ilorin: names like sulu, gambari, belgore etc. Ask saraki their fulani-heritage's name. The coming of the fulanis to ilorin is not up to 150 years as claimed by the father. Fulani bear yoruba names but not as typical as the name "Saraki", even i myself dont know the meaning of Saraki as a yorubaman. The thing is absolutely for political reason. If you are not from Ilorin u will not understand.Saraki is not from Ilorin, he is an Egba man.

So the Emir Kolapo of Illorin is not Fulani because of his Yoruba name abi?Fulani adopt the names of the people around them in order to politicaly adapt and it works for them. There is nothing shameful about that.

Go

Good the Emir is fulani with fulani-heritage's name of Gambari.

Can you tell me the fulani-heritage's name of Saraki's family. There is no fulani man without fulani-heritage's name in ilorin. Saraki is not even from ilorin for your information. His father was just trying to justify that he is an ilorin man by claiming fulani.
