Mr. Chinedu Orji, the son of the immediate past
Governor of Abia State, Theodore Orji, has
emerged the Majority Leader of the Abia State
House of Assembly.


The Speaker of the House, Martins Azubuike,
disclosed this on Monday during a courtesy visit to
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.


Azubuike, while introducing his colleagues to
Ikpeazu, said Abraham Oba, an All Progressive
Grand Alliance lawmaker representing Aba-Central,
was the Minority Leader.


He also said Tony Nwubani, a Peoples Democratic
Party lawmaker representing Ukwa-West
constituency, was the Majority Whip, while the
Minority Whip was Chibuzor Okogbue, an APGA
lawmaker representing Bende-South constituency.


A PDP lawmaker, Mr. Cosmos Ndukwe,
representing Bende-North was elected as the
Deputy Speaker during the inauguration of the
House last Thursday. The House comprises 13
PDP members and 11 APGA members.


In his remarks, the governor thanked the
lawmakers for the peaceful manner they
conducted their election despite their party
differences, and promised to work with them in the
best interest of the state.


On the insecurity in some parts of the state,
Ikpeazu said he had concluded plans to submit a
bill to the state House of Assembly in order to
establish a Security Trust Fund.


Ikpeazu said his administration would fight crime
with technology, adding that plans were underway
to mount Close Circuit Televisions on the streets to
monitor movements of people in the state.


Meanwhile, Ikpeazu has inaugurated Chief Ume
Kalu as the state’s Attorney General and
Commissioner for Justice, the same office he
(Kalu) occupied during the tenure of Orji.


Kalu is the only commissioner appointed by
Ikpeazu since he assumed office on May 29.

Ikpeazu, who has yet to move into the Government
House, Umuahia, has only appointed a few special
advisers and special assistants.

What a shame i hailed from Abia State, a state where a governors son slapped the governor elect and goes scot free, a state where the governor imposes his son to the house of Rep without any opposition, a state where the governors puppet in the name of Okezie Ikpeazu was made the governor at the expense of the good people of Abia without their consent. A state where the governors son felts he could infringe on the rights of the poor people of Abia State by slapping whomever he so pleased but luck ran out on him when he slapped a Colonel at a shopping complex and got the beating of his life, we are Abians we know the truth and we shall rise up against any form of oppression. #SAY NO TO GODFATHERISM.
