According to the Nation reports, the state fire service disclosed that the Air Force Base located beside the National Open University in Victoria Island, Lagos, was razed on Wednesday night, while the other structures destroyed by inferno Thursday evening include a Zenith Bank building at 87, Ajose Adeogun, Victoria Island; 70, Adewole Street, Ikotun and 1B, Niyi Adedeji Street, Ogudu.

Reports say although the cause of the fire was not clearly stated by the fire fighters, it was suspected that an electrical surge may have prompted the inferno.

Director of the state Fire Service, Rasaq Fadipe and Southwest Spokesman of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), while confirming the incident, noted that there was no casualty.

“Yes we received fire call on Zenith bank but not the headquarters. The fire affected one of the branches on Ajose Adeogun and severely damaged equipment and one of the rooms on the third floor.


“No injury was recorded and it was not in the banking hall. I don’t think customers are received on that floor. Computers and other office equipments were damaged.

“For the Ikotun fire, a mini flat was completely razed and other three rooms. We also received fire alert at Niyi Adedeji Street, near Mr. Biggs in Ogudu and it affected the topmost floor of the building,” he explained.
