Genea: dahreyM: If you can delete your topics, then that means you will be deleting peoples posts along with it. How would you feel after making a funny or intelligent comment on a thread and all of a sudden the person just deletes the thread and your post along with it? How about a scenario where there was a thread you liked or a thread you were really gaining a lot from and as you were just perusing through it or as you just wanted to comment on it, you just find out that it's already been deleted. How would you feel? Or a case where a topic is already on front page and the whole Nigeria is going through it's content and before you know it, the owner of the thread just decides to delete it. If such privilege is given to everyone, Nairaland will be in a mess. You won't see many threads anymore. You would even see people deleting their own threads for dubious and selfish reasons. Seun doesn't need to add such feature to Nairaland. 1 Like |

raayah: Yes. An option to delete a post, a thread, a quoted comment. A power of attorney in which an op can delete any derogatory comment on his or her thread. 1 Like |

raayah: dahreyM: Actually a good thing? Are you for real? How is it a good thing? Imagine how nairaland would be like if everyone could delete comments on his or her thread. Do you know what would happen if everyone is given such power? You would have people deleting comments for their own selfish gain. Nairaland would be in a state of chaos, discombobulation and disorganization. Their would be a massive infestation of Trolls who would create topics to cause trouble so they could delete comments. People would start e-wars on their threads so they could delete opposing comments. Please Nairaland doesn't need such feature. 1 Like |

Re: We Need A Delete Option by Nobody: 11:41am On Jun 22, 2015 |
dahreyM: Your analogy doesn't correlate or relate with the issue at hand. Nairaland is a forum and not some website like facebook or twitter where everything you do is done on your own page. When you create a thread on nairaland, you open the door for the whole world to comment and share their ideas on it. Do you know how valuable an opinion or idea is? And you want any tom dick and harry to just delete threads where people have already shared their opinions and ideas just because he/she "chooses" to. That's why there are moderators and these moderators are put on sensitivity trainings and other forms of training so as to be able to make good judgments and decisions. A moderator doesn't just delete any thread. If you notice, a moderator on deletes threads that are insulting to the image of nairaland , or a thread created to insult or make mockery of a member a moderator, an organization, or threads that violate a rule. Even threads where there are e- wars and fights, what the moderator does is just to delete posts that break a rule or just lock up the thread. You can't just give everyone the choice to delete their own threads because it isn't a sensible thing to do. 1 Like |

dahreyM:Don't post anything that you might want to delete later, because we don't have any plan to introduce that feature. So sorry. |
