I am sure there are other flash developers in here. Guyz please let us get to know you, so that we can rub minds together.
I am a flex 3.0 specialist by the way. I mean this to be a meeting point as well as a tutorial centre for those that wish to learn
flex 3.0.
Just for the record, flex 3.0 can be integrated with JAVASCRIPT, php and mysql and also asp.net, oracle and others.

Now, for newbies, you can build almost any kind of web application with it. Both client and server-sided client applications.

@flash guyz: please sign in and identify yourselves - telling us what you specialize on. I look forward to seeing people like my friend - the great webdezzi himself.

very good, when you run into any problem, just lemme know so we will try to help you. Because flex extends to other areas of dhtml,
you may ask question like how do i fetch information from database and display them in say the tile-list control for instance.

Good to see people are picking up.

dhtml:
I've been a flex developer for 4 years (since flex 1.5), a flash developer (not designer) for 11 years, and a software developer for about the same. I just left Adobe where I was for 3+ years as a flex developer and advisor to the flex engineering team. I actually had a lot of posts here on Nairaland pertaining to flex, but they got deleted by the moderator after a falling out. Since then I havent had the motivation to be as active as I was before. as I lost over a hundred posts. Anyways, recent posts are here:

You can check my blog here http://blogs.adobe.com/ekz

Looking at your screenshot,
1) you dont seem to be using any mvc framework (cairngorm, puremvc, etc). Any reason why?
2) you seem to be building a very simple site, not a web application. It would be hard to make a case for that since using flex adds an additional 120k or so to your swf (for the framework code).

Question, how long have you been using flex?

@ prodgalson, post is STILL HERE, never been deleted! Where did you get that information from? Here is existing thread at below:

Are You Into Flash Actionscript 3? Let's Have Serious Fun Here!

STILL ALIVE, but die out no one motivated to learn!

wow prodgal, you left adobe? I thought it would be "from cradle to grave" for you over there. Hopefully, the move is for the better.

We haven't chatted in a looooong time. Perhaps it is time to "rekindle the flame" wink

Re: Flash / Flex Builders: Please Let's Know You by Nobody: 12:32pm On Mar 02, 2009
@prodgalson, I just re-installed my flex - it crashed. As to when i started, i started using it from flex 3.0. I had to work with a team of regular flex programmers on a large project. So i learnt flex solely for that project, several months of flex creating graphs, effects and stuffs like that especially intranet applications. But after a series of projects we worked on then, i became tired of flex and went back to my regular javascript/php/mysql stuffs.
What i just love about flex is the GUI which reminds me of the MS Development Environment For VB,VC, and .NET.

It seems you are more of a software person. I started from regular window-based intranet/internet applications, then later went into web programming.
Flex seem to combine those 2 qualities. But somehow, i seem to be more interested in web site development rather than software programming. I have so far been shuttling between those 2 ends.

I have helped some people on this board to solve some flex issues before, that is why i created this thread so that other flex people too can come in to feature here.
@everyone, if you have any thread on flex here on NL, please post it here so that we can all learn from it.

@dhtml: I love your story, and your genuine interest to help share the joys of flex with others. I was very much on the same page, actually gave a flex seminar in lagos , in 2007 ( http://naij-ria.com ), and hoped to make it an annual thing, but it's been a bit challenging. Anyways, I'll be able to help contribute to the thread as I have time.

@uspry1: I had dozens of posts on Flex, Flash, and AIR that were deleted by Seun and are unrecoverable. This was before you were moderator, and I was an active poster. Since then, I lost the motivation to post on NL. Now I just observe once in a while

@yawa-ti-de: seriously oh, much to tell you!
