Source: http://mailtelegraph..com/2015/06/is-jagaban-finally-tamed.html?m=1. Immediately the results of the April 2015 presidential election was announced, the self acclaimed Jagaban or Lion of Bourdillon was in a jubilant mood . "I'm in the same union as Buhari to salvage a Nigeria that is drifting and that has faced a storm of economic deterioration", he said at a celebration party in his Ikoyi residence. Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a controversial figure, resented by some for his "deeply Machiavellian" politics and at the same time loved and adored by many for his "political sagacity and master strategy". He is the father of modern Nigerian opposition because from the time of NADECO during the June 12 annulment by General Ibrahim Babangida up to till the 4th Republic he had been in the opposition. It is quite premature and difficult to analyse his gradual political demise as it appears in his party and the National Assembly. A note of caution is appropriate to those jubilating on his "political strangulation" by mostly politicians of northern extract. The bottom line and hard truth that most people do not see is that the APC dearly needs Tinubu much more than he needs them . To buttress further, it is worthy of note that the main victory of the APC in the last presidential election should mainly be attributed to no one else but this man. As statistics has it, the APC won with over 2.5million votes and political analysts knew and predicted that the core North except North- Central will vote en masse for the APC while the South-South and South-East will vote for PDP, but little was known or could be predicted of the South-West. If Tinubu was able to at least neutralise the influence of PDP in the region, then the pendulum will swing in the favour of the APC and he delivered . No politician in Nigeria can boast the number of loyal voters that can counter that of Tinubu as of present. Reason is that Tinubu alone is the "Godfather" of the South- West and also no politician can control any region in Nigeria like he does in the South-West. The best they can do is control states and not regions. On the contrary, Tinubu might not totally control 100% of the South -West but his loyal voters alone far outweighs any living Nigerian politician. His influence goes further from Lagos to Ogun to Oyo to Osun (that's if Rauf Aregbesola's influence is not on the wane for non- payment of workers salary). History tries to explain further that , Alhaji Shehu Shagari of the NPN won the 2nd Republic elections basically because he had bulk of Northern vote while the South-West and South-East (Obafemi Awolowo and Nnamdi Azikiwe) divided the vote of the South. It is also on record that some states (Kogi, Plateau, Benue, Taraba and Kwara) do not always go with the North as they do not see themselves as North and have minority Christians amongst them. The South-West has more than 4million votes and if Tinubu can get half of that number for any political party then it is safe to conclude that he is indeed a "Political Heavyweight". Note that since the death of Chief Chukwuemeka Ojukwu and Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe no politician can lay claim to control the whole South-East and same can be said of other regions in the country except for the South-West. Also it is a known fact that finance is instrumental to politics in this part of the world and with the finances of Lagos, Ogun, Oyo and some extent Edo and Osun states(If Rauf Aregbesola succeeds because he is now looking like a political leper to Tinubu) then it is safe to say that Tinubu is far from finished. To refresh our minds, Lagos alone accounts for more than #214b Internally Generated Fund(IGR) as of 2014 from the National Bureau of Statistics with the closest Rivers with a paltry sum above #86b. Oyo and Ogun are not left out as they feature in the top 10 in the list. Ahead of 2019, Tinubu if he maintains his burgeoning influence in the South-West (even if he loses national relevance as it appears) will be a beautiful bride courted by all(political parties). Also if he pulls out his support base from the APC to PDP which is highly unlikely then the APC will turn into a real regional party and history will be made as the South will unite for the first time. Even certain Northern states like Kogi, Taraba, Plateau and Adamawa are still PDP vibrant and need minor tinkering and reorganising. Tinubu has throughly succeed where many failed and such setbacks as he is experiencing is a normal. One wonders where all the politicians mostly from Northern extract flexing their muscles now where when he built the a APC from scratch (AD) and merged it with the CPC of President Buhari. Nigeria does not need God fatherism any longer but their is a paramount need for a strong political base in Nigerian politics. Also states that have their governors as prodigies of Tinubu (Lagos, Ogun, Edo and Oyo except for Osun) are enjoying dividends of democracy much more than States like Ebonyi, Abia, Delta and Bayelsa States which abhor God fatherism. "Hate him or love him, Tinubu is far from finished" but only posterity will do justice to the above statement. By Ewah Chika"Lucio MoGGi II".

Thank you bros, Tinubu has done his best it's now left for us especially young ones to follow d parts of honour and do d right thing. We need to support our new Govt to succeed otherwise de burdens will b too much for us to bare. We should be ashamed of what happened in National assembly this week! It shows Saraki is going to continue with PDP corrupt agenda which ruined our economy to this level. In less than a month see Billions of Naira they shared among themselves at d expense of unpaid worker's salary infarious states. God bless Nigeria.
