Ngige To Ekweremadu: You Are A Receiver Of Stolen Goods by Nobody: 3:45pm On Jun 27, 2015
Former governor of Anambra state, Senator
Chris Ngige, has described the emergence of
Senator Ike Ekweremadu as Nigeria’s deputy
senate president, as a disadvantage to the
South East people.
Ngige was reacting to the recent comment by
Ekweremadu that his position have made up for the
Igbos in terms of zoning. The deputy senate president
went on tocanvass for the South-South region to be
accommodated in the Buhari government.
Apparently irked by Ekweremadu’s suggestion, Ngige
who is one of those tipped to emerge as the Secretary
of the Government of the Federation (SGF) thundered,
“Why should Ike Ekweremadu be making a case for the
South South? Is he from the South South? He has no
locus standi to say that.
“Even the South-East he is talking about, he can’t in
all righteousness claim he can speak for us – the APC of
the South East, nor can he speak for the Buhari-led
APC controlled government, dictating for them what to
do for the South East. Moreover, I was disappointed
when I read Ekweremadu’s comments. I read it in all
the newspapers and I saw it in the electronic media, I
saw it on the NTA, on Channels, as well as AIT, and I
was a little bit confused and disappointed to be frank
with you.”
Speaking further, Ngige said, “Senator Ike Ekweremadu
is someone I like a lot; he is a young man, he is
intelligent and I can tell you without fear of
equivocation when we were in the 7th Senate. I don’t
know what got over him to make this pronouncement
that he has gotten the share of the Igbos of the South-
East. He didn’t get our share, the share he got was for
himself. He is a receiver of a stolen good. The PDP
people in the Senate had an opportunity because our 59
Senators were not in chambers then they elected him
Deputy Senate President and forced on us a hybrid
headship of the Nigerian Senate.”
Ngige revealed that APC members in the South-East are
not happy about Ekweremadu’s emergence because
according to him, the implication of his election is that
the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has the highest
ranking elected public officer from the region.
He also opined that his election have endangered the All
Progressives Congress (APC) because in his words, “the
PDP in the South-East will have oxygen to breath from
since they now have the highest ranking person in
Nigeria coming from the South-East, that
disadvantages us and puts us in a difficult position on
our aspiration to make the South-East people to join
the main stream of Nigerian politics by aligning with
the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC government.”
Ngige who was speaking to group of journalists, also
said Ekweremadu has made the job of the South East
APC difficult but vowed that they were going to face
the issue squarely.
He said, “You know, there are many ways to kill a rat.
You can decide to go and kill it manually, you can go
and put it in hot water, and you can use poison –
Gammalin. We are back to the drawing table because it
poses a problem for us and for some of us who know the
powers and the rules of the Senate, a deputy Senate
president exercises powers given to him by the Senate
president. It only asks him to act for the Senate
president when he is not around. The deputy Senate
president is like a deputy governor- a spare tyre.
He is a spare; you don’t use your spare when your tyres
are okay in a vehicle. If it is in your house, if you have
public power supply you don’t use your generator. My
very good friend and brother Ike Ekweremadu misfired
when he said he has gotten the share of the South
East. The share he got was for himself, it is not for
the South-East,” he concluded.

By their dressing , most of our government officials look more like clowns. Considering all their bogus allowances, it does not take much from them to dress smart and clean on the job, We see it daily how officials of other countries dress for job in spite of not being paid humongous wardrobe allowances. Our own people dress heavy and sluggish and always appear as if not ready for work, all under the guise of dressing ' nigerian 'or cultural / tribal identity.
