Hilarious Quotes/sayings In Igbo Language by Nobody: 7:27pm On Jun 27, 2015
I will translate it in pidgin, then English language before the meaning because Pidgin English seems to be the closest and has almost same structure with our Nigerian Languages making these sayings not to lose all it's humour.
I call these street talks and some of them are vulgar, so read/use at your own peril. Meanwhile, this is just for fun. So have fun!

1. Ha na-asi na oku gbara Father I na-aju ma o gbakwara ma afuonu ya
Pidgin: Dem talk say fire burn father, you dey ask weda ihn burn him bie-bie too.
English: It was said that a Reverend Father got burnt, you are asking if his beards also got burnt.
Meaning: Treat issues according to their relevance

2. Amu kulie, o di ka o ga gbawa otu
Pidgin: Prick stand, ihn com be like say ihn go break toto
English: An erect pen1s seems it will expand the vag1na to it's break point
Meaning:

3. Hapu ihe a dere na moto banye motor
Pidgin: Leave wetin dem rait for moto enta moto
English: Abandon what is written on the car and enter the car
Meaning: Waste less time on things you don't know about before doing the needful

4. Gini ozo ka a na cho na siga ma obughi anwuru-oku?
Pidgin: Wetin else man dey find for cigar wey no be smoke?
English: What else is expected of cigarette if not smoke?
Meaning: Purpose are always defined / There is a reason for everything

5. Onye m ga egbuli, m ga riokwa chineke ka o nyere m aka?
Pidgin: Person wey i fit bit, abi i go need ask God for help again?
English: One whom i can defeat in a fight, do i still need to ask God for help?
Meaning: Some things can be achieved faster even without external assistance

6. Anyi na nu champagne ha ka na nu panadol
Pidgin: We dey drink champagne dem still dey drink panadol
English: We are drinking champagne whereas they are still on panadol
Meaning: Haters gonna die while hating (until they learn to celebrate others' success)

7. Mmanu akara di uto; Onye ratu, ibe ya a ratu
Pidgin: Akara oil sweet; Person wey lick small, let others lick small
English: Akara oil is sweet; one who tastes should allow others have a taste
Meaning: Be good to the people on your way up the ladder

8. O ji ngaji eri chetakwa ndi ji aka
Pidgin: Person wey use spoon dey eat, remember those wey dey use hand
English: He who eats with spoon should remember those who uses hand to eat
Meaning: While enjoying yourself, always have the destitute at heart

9. I tiela aka na tipa bu aja
Pidgin: You don put hand tipper wey carry sain-sain
English: You have placed you hand on tipper with load of sand
Meaning: You are in a big mess/trouble

10. Biko gbawa door
Pidgin: Abeg break door
English: Please break door
Meaning: Please leave here grin

11. Ogologo abughi na nwa m e tola
Pidgin: Tallness no mean say my pikin don grow
English: Tallness is not a yardstick to define maturity
Meaning: Maturity is not a function of one's physique

12. Ara ga gba ndi ara
Pidgin: Mad people go soon run mad
English: Lunatics shall soon run mad
Meaning: Unbelievable/surprising things will happen

13. Ukwu na ga wara; anya na ga wara na hu ya
Pidgin: Leg wey dey waka zig-zag na eye wey dey move zig-zag dey see am
English: A leg moving in zig-zag motion; an eye moving in zig-zag motion always sees it.
Meaning: You can't outsmart everyone

14. Ebe o bu na Aba di otua kedu kwa ka Umuahia ga di?
Pidgin: Since Aba dey like dis, how Umuahia go con dey?
English: Since Aba is like this how then will Umuahia be?
Meaning: If the best is worse than we expected, how then will the one thought of to be the worst to be. OR
If the worst is better than we expected, how then will the one thought of to be the best to be?

15. Nna, kee ncha bu omo?
Pidgin: Oboy, which soap be omo?
English: Hey, What brand of soap is omo?
Meaning: What's up?
