I need help from a good web developer. I've been in web design for over 3 years but i felt is high time i steped up my knowledge base. Am decided to adopt php as my server side lang and i've down some sites with it. Any body can review these sites: www.josiemalariasupport.org, www.lifeiq-ngr.com, www.vassrealestates.com, www.glorylandestates.com. Pls, tell me my skill level and how i can improve. Am also looking for any web design job (part time/ full time)

It is tough to appraise one's php skills based on looks. One must c ur code and most importantly, what you have done with the code (for example, membership registration, etc). Based on your contact page, which didn't even validate on the front and back ends, I would say your skill set is low but far from me to pass judgement without looking at your code in more detail.

There is still space for improvement.

Uhmm , its nice flashy site Nigerians love so much , but , i bet for my mom yawatide will never take that from us ! (she hates flash) your sites is all made of flash Uhmm , for the contact us form , i am not sure its functioning , when someone send a message , it doesnt show anything new to show message was sent! are you sure you get messages from people via those forms ?
and again there is something about me , i love reading people's source codes , atleast i used to gain from it ! it use to irritate me when i found out a website is built and positioned with table , i damn have it ( not really designer's fault ) but Dreamweaver is to be blamed! lets kick the table thing out ! its OUT-DATED ! i use to cry when i find a lovely looking website without gaining anything from its source code!!

I might hate it but if I see a flash site done well, I am the first to appreciate it and let the developer know how much I like it

Take the sunlight (at the top) here for example: http://www.ancilsolar.com/ - I find it neither invasive nor distracting - out of this world!

Something that is unfortunately lost amongst some of our "MTV Africa/Channel O" generation. At my (cough, cough ) age, I still address ppl as, "Uncle/Aunt", "Madam/Sir", etc.

Why do people use flash when it is not needed?

from talking to a few fellow "webmasters" who use it, the answer usually boils down to, "cos I want to show the client what I can do". Note that the answer has nothing to do with how they can help the client. It's all about the "webmaster"

I think September 2007, I got a project in New york to extend a site add oscommerce.

After looking through the main site that show the product details, I told the owner, I can help you redo the main site, it will look exactly like it does currently, and it will be easier for you to change text, graphics, or styling as you want.

The guy that did the main site in flash he is pretty good but when I asked him to send the .flv there was no use of external files. pretty much everything was placed in frames.  Eventually the owner of the site was like you know what, dont worry about that now, just include oscommerce to be functional finish.

After a couple of months, oscommerce was up and running. And a couple of weeks later which was then around August 2008. she called me and asked. dude, would you still like to change the main site to text based instead of flash.

Though it would have been pretty lucrative I declined. I gave the offer on the table before starting, analyzed the previous design. But by the time she wanted me to do it, I was back to school so no time.

So for that client, obviously she was nontechnical but the designer she got pushed her to use flash without talking about options and design techniques.

Well, designers/developers though would like to get as much money as possible, I feel they should be ethically responsible to lead their clients.

Now, I have not done any web dev project in quite a while, and I am seriously hoping I dont do any website related job. clients dont really appreciate the effort put into the work. I have the patience to work with clients. Just feel ehn not something I would like to be doing for long.
