King James also known as the Wise Fool. He didn't translate the Bible; he was the first to order its translation and he made it possible for the poor to have the Bible. In his time only the rich class and the senior authority in the church were permitted to own the Bible. It was a crime punishable by death for the poor to have the Bible in their possession (I stand to be corrected here).

Actually, he didnt Translate any Bible. He was the King that ordered that the Bible be standardized as there were so many translations that even the Church was confused about the conflicting translations.
He gave the order and the church set to correct all misleading translations. The version was named after the King as it was the Legal/Authorized Version for the church then. It has the best translation that put to rest all the conflicting and controversies.

You guys are getting it all wrong,king James never translated neither standardized the bible what he actually did was to make his own version of the bible to suite the his own belief from what he called false in the catholic version of the bible,upon doing that,He then started we today know as the anglican church breaking away from the catholics.

Intelligent people should be asking why the inspired Inerrant words of the omni omni god could have been open to many different and confusing translations in the first place.

It is only things or programs contrived in deceit that need regular rejiging every so often.

Also worthy of note is that at the time of King James, the English language did not have a rich enough vocabulary for a good translation of the bible. Therefore, King James hired a renowned literary genuise, wordsmith, and polymath, Sir Francis Bacon, to improvise by coining words that had no prior use or meanings.
Infact, translating the bible alone contributed about 30% new words and meanings to the English vocabulary.
Therefore, the new bible contained tons of new words and meanings that had no prior use in the English language.
