It has been a very rampant issue among bloggers in Nigeria to copy an paste posts into their blogs, in fact its 80% common in the entertainment blogs in Nigeria. While getting some facts right about copying posts from a site an pasting it on your site. I learnt the harm associated is more than the good involved, the ratio is 90:10. The only benefit I can fathom is the traffic your site is getting and nothing more, before you start arguing with me, lets go through this reasons why you should never copy and paste:

1.GOOGLE HATES IT: The number one search engine in the world is GOOGLE, they termed copy and paste act as "plagiarism" which according to wikipedia means "wrongful appropriation" and "stealing and publication" of another author's "language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions" and the representation of them as one's own original work. From this wiki definition, one can conclude that one who involves him or herself is a thief, besides, your blog will never be ranked high on google which is one of the big reasons you don't make money with your blog.

There is a money making program for bloggers called adsense, it is the best way to earn money from blogs, One who involves in plagiarism will not be accepted by google, if you later start "copy and paste" attitude after accepting you, your adsense is strongly at risk. This plagiarism is strictly punishable by google, an can make you lose your site if the original content writer reports you to the appropriate quarters.

2.UNPROFESSIONAL: Even as a kid in nursery school, the number one lesson we were taught is not to copy anybody while in class, what are you even sing your brain for if all you do is to copy from another source and claim it's ownership? It's pure laziness that kills career of any blogger. Copying and pasting articles online is what anybody can do and it simply means you have no special traits of a blogger as what you do can also be done by just anybody that's not even in the blogging line. So when next they ask if you are a blogger, its rather better to reply that you are an online photocopier.

Most bloggers are lesser sinners, they copy posts, re-write, edit it into their own expressions and publish it,its really acceptable most especially for entertainment bloggers where they write about same thing every time, you can venture into this and you would be on the safer side of being a criminal. It pays to be original.

3.CONDEMNING SOMEONE ELSE' LABOUR: What if you were the one, tried all your possible best, had sleepless nights in researching, then finally got what you need and write it, only for you to discover someone else has copied exactly what you stressed yourself for and claiming it's ownership, and again the person is getting more attention than you. I know nobody will never feel about it not even you.

It is a wicked act that must be stopped with immediate alacrity, as I don't expect any blogger to feel happy seeing someone else getting credit an commendations for what he or she i with all effort accompanied with stress.

4.DOUBTFUL UPRIGHTNESS: When you turn yourself to a pro in pressing ctrl C+V, you can never know who and who are watching you, you can never expect someone to be seeking for where to place an advert and skip a blog where its content is purely original to come to yours, your uprightness and integrity would be questioned,

Some good advertisers will not find your blog accommodating for their adverts placement, when people leaves your blog because they have already seen your post somewhere else, what is the probability that their advert will get noticed by those visitors as people get bored seeing already seen post so quick.

5.WEBSITE DESERTION: When all of the above points are gathered together, the sure result is abandoning of your website or blog,or what's the essence of owing a blog that attracts nobody not even any advertiser, If you had no interest in making money with your blog, then you wouldn't have being a copy an paste master. Are you worried about how readers would know your blog's content are copied, of course there are so many tools to check duplicate contents, some can use plagiarism checker and so many online tools to check copied post.

In my humble opinion, copying and paste without given credit is the offence. If you must copy, at least give credit to show you are not the original author of the work.

I want to know what's original for news, music, info, and some tech bloggers when what's "postable" is practically the same. It's polite to give credits when items are being copied to those that aren't.

As per what you quoted above. Copy! Copy could be carried out in various forms, telling me that you are original is an abrupt lie. You can copy and paste. You could also copy and type out. Copy, paste and reedit. You can get info from followed blogs/niche, rewrite your own way… copy could mean so many things man, so originality is only fully achieved for those in a specific niche such as poets, personal life blogs, and others. These sets of bloggers pour them outright from their hearts. Let's be honest with ourselves, we all copy in one way or the other.

I'm out!

you said it well but direct copy and paste is bad.at lease input something in your own style by a way of retwited the content before publish . I think doing it this way will make sense than copy and past directly .

Many have made blogging a lazy man's work.
In blogging you are expected to create your thoughts to let ppl see things from your own perspective. If you doubt go have a look at original foreign blogs.
But what we hve here mostly is ppl caarrying and recycling the same news; no originality, no perspective.
Be original m$y fellow bloggers, task your brain.

I have an entertaining article on bridal makeup on wedding days. Women read up n enjoy your Sunday.

Its very frustrating to gather a nice content with well crafted caption only for one mumu wana be blogger to copy and paste it on his mushroom site word for word. The most painful part is that they might even rank first on google search ahead of your own blog...

Most so called Naija Big blogs arent exempted... angry angry angry Myself Inclusive cheesy cheesy cheesy

True but it depends on the niche ... If you run magazine website, there is no way you won't copy n paste. That's what am going through, I want to move to a much more better niche where my content would be original.
