i grit d house oo.. oga ceejay i salute u 4 dis thread..

Dear gurus,

I want to buy deep cycle batteries but am confused on which 2 buy gel or AGM batteries.. i want to make use of a hybrid inverter with inbuilt pwm charger....some say mppt is better but expensive..

how do i go about selecting this batteries for use and which manufacturer will u recommend. I have fullriver in mind... I dont want to buy battery next year again.the market is being flooded daily with junks from china and indian manufacturers (battery/inverters).
Buy agm, don't buy a hybrid inverter as the inbuilt charge controller in most of them is not okay, just go for a standalone controller & inverter. Cheers

You will end up getting 10.4v, 200ma from the two panels. I will argue that you're better off using the two panels in parallel and charging your battery with it steady. That way you will get 5.2v, 400ma which MAY just end up charging your battery faster than a 10.4v 200ma system.

Be open to trying both and sticking with what works better. Cheers
thanks

I eventually got the crown inverter for my setup.

It works great but the claimed 20amp charging is a big fat lie. That thing does not charge more than 15amp at most.

So I am still using my suder intelligent charged and am loving it. My neighbours dey jealous

isaactolu:

This is the type of inverter I'm using, I won't say its great cos I'm getting less than I should get and I believe its either this inverter or the battery. Don't buy it

Hello Ceejay80s, I have been an ardent although quiet follower of this thread from day one. I'm profusely grateful for what you have done for millions of Nigerians (including me) with this thread.

I want to do something about it for the first time. I sent you a PM about two days ago. Could you please reply to it ASAP.

Thanks.

Finally I was able to setup my own small inverter with less than 50k. Here is the summary
1. LifePo4 black battery N10,000
2. 500w car inverter N7000
3. Pmw 20A solar controller N4000
4. 80w poly solar panel N17500
5. Cable for connection N1000
Total= N39500
I use this setup to power 20inch HP monitor, gotv, small USB fan and charge my phone. The main challenge I am facing now is the solar doesn't charge the battery fast. I have to wait till 11am when the battery current reaches 11v before I can ON the setup to watch the gotv. Gurus in the house pls how can I make it charge fast?

Bros where the setup dey?
Na only your tv and sound system we dey see!

Anyway, using your battery below 12v is not advisable, you are sending your battery to it's early grave,
I'm pretty sure your battery won't last up to 6 month!
