SMH at the inferiority complex at display. Instead of supporting our own Innoson, we are welcoming foreign opening factories in our own country, making money at our domestic manufacturer's expense! Do you think Japan would let Innoson build a factory there?

Innoson is assembling cars in Nigeria with parts built abroad.

For Innoson to be assembling cars abroad (not in Japan where they have to compete against local Japanese manufacturers....who are too good)...Innoson has to build car parts here in Nigeria....and assemble in Nigeria.

Good thinking by Honda!

This is where both State and Federal governments need to kick in and make sure this initiative doesnt run for a few months and then d decision is called off.

If Honda have to regret this action we can kiss bye bye to Toyota, VolksWagen, and others ever coming to set up in Nigeria,

And then we will all keep queuing at CBN to beg for dollars to import cars, and our naira will further depreciate, and every thing will become highly priced till we start seeking assylum in Togo.

Let's support this and open up our economy to true investment

Manufacturing- especially vehicle manufacturing- is quite complex.
INNOSON can't meet demand in the next 5 years.
In EVERY nation, foreign firms are encouraged to establish factories- once they manufacture for cars, ALL the spare parts for existing vehicles become available; it's also easier to grow cottage industries- recycling, retooling, mechanics, etc.
Job creation is the eventual goal; will you refuse to work there because it's foreign?
There are many plants by Japanese companies all over the world; we lose out if we reject their (over 100 years of) expertise.
ALL the world's major conglomerates now have their main plants in CHINA! Because the Chinese welcomed them and provided opportunities for their businesses.
MAKE NIGERIA THE MANUFACTURING HUB OF AFRICA- And see how we leapfrog most European nations in becoming a G7 nation!!
