POWER STATES:

Some states are truly power states. They have produced the leader for this nation more than once. They belong to a coterie of privileged states:

1. Kano State:
* Gen Murtala Mohammed - July 29, 1975 - Feb 13, 1976.
* Gen Sani Abacha: Nov 23, 1993 - June 8, 1998.

2. Ogun State:
* Gen Olusegun Obasanjo: Feb 14, 1976 - Oct 1, 1979
* Chief Ernest Shonekan: August 27, 1993 - Nov 23, 1993.
* President Olusegun Obasanjo: May 29, 1999 - May 29, 2007.

3. Niger State:
* Gen Ibrahim Babangida:
Aug 27, 1985 - Aug 27, 1993
* Gen Abdulsalami Abubakar:
June 8, 1998 - May 29, 1999.

4. Katsina State:
* Maj-Gen Muhammadu Buhari: Dec 31st, 1983 - Aug 27, 1985.
* Alh Umar Yar'Adua: May 29, 2007 - May 10, 2010.
* President Muhammadu Buhari: May 29, 2015 till date.

The following also produced Nigerian leaders at a time or another:
1. Bauchi: Alh Sir Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa: Oct 1st, 1960 - Jan 14, 1966.

2. Abia: Maj-Gen J.T.U. Aguiyi - Ironsi: Jan 14 1966 - July 29, 1966.

3. Plateau: Gen Yakubu Gowon: July 29, 1966 - July 29, 1975.

4. Sokoto: Alhaji Shehu Shagari: Oct 1st, 1979 - December 31, 1983.

5. Bayelsa State:
Dr Goodluck Jonathan: May 10, 2010 - May 29, 2015.

I don't want to include Anambra from where Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe came simply because Zik was largely a ceremonial president.

Fellow Nigerians, I'm wondering when my beloved Oyo State shall join this elites club of power state.

About them we re-write Nigerian's history, by not acknowledging those leaders that came in through the GUN.
