Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants for various vacant academic and non-teaching positions in the University of Lagos, a tertiary institution of higher learning located in the West African sub-region.

The University has a student population of about forty-five thousand (45,000) offering both full and part-time courses.

The University has a College of Medicine, Twelve (12) Faculties, School of Postgraduate Studies, Institute of Continuous Education and an Institute of Distance Learning. The staff strength is about four thousand (4,000), made up of academic and non-teaching staff.

ACADEMIC POSITIONS: Vacancies exist in the Faculties of Arts, Business Administration, Education, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Pharmacy, Law, Science, Social Sciences, College of Medicine, Medical Library, and Central Research Laboratory for various academic positions.

NON-TEACHING POSITIONS: Vacancies exist in the Medical Centre, Geography Department, Works and Physical Planning Department, and Radio UNILAG for various non-teaching positions.

A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a doctorate degree in the respective field with not less than ten (10) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning. A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise. A candidate must also have sufficient administrative experience and must have been an Associate Professor for a minimum of three (3) years. He/She must have ability to provide academic leadership. Candidates who have been Senior Lecturers for a minimum of six (6) years may be considered for appointment.

Areas of Specialisation for Theatre Arts: Dramatic Literature and Criticism

(ii) Associate Professor (Theatre Arts/Music/Visual Arts)
A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a doctorate degree in the respective field from a recognized University with not less than eight (cool years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning. Areas of Specialisation for Music: Musicology, Ethnomusicology, Composition and Analysis, and Music Performance.

(v) Lecturer II (Music, Visual Arts)
A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a doctorate degree in the respective field from a recognized University. Recognised publications in Theatre Arts, Music or Visual Arts will be an added advantage. Candidate must also show commitment and a consistency in the field applied for.

Areas of Specialisation for Visual Arts: Ceramics, Jewellery and Metal Design, Textile, Graphics, Painting, Sculpture (with an emphasis in metal casting) and Art History.

Areas of Specialisation for Music: Musicology, Ethnomusicology, Composition and Analysis, and Music Performance.

(vi) Assistant Lecturer (Theatre Arts, Textile, Sculpture)
A Candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree plus a master’s degree in the respective field from any recognised University and must have registered for the Ph.D. programme.

Area of Specialisation for Theatre Arts: Technical Theatre Theory and Criticism of Dramatic Literature, Arts of Theatre, Theatre History, Theatre Management and Administration.



Areas of Specialisation Textile: Textile production with an emphasis in weaving, Fabric design and Conceptual textile Art production.

Areas of Specialisation Sculpture: Kinetic Sculpture and Bronze-casting.

b. Department of English
(i) Professor (Language Emphasis)
A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a doctorate degree in the respective field from a recognised University with not less than ten (10) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning. (ii) Senior Lecturer (Phonetics and Phonology and Sociolinguistics)
A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a doctorate degree in Phonetics and Phonology from a recognized University with at least Five (5) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning. Candidate must have evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals and ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise. Candidate must have been a Lecturer I for a minimum of three (3) years.

(iii) Lecturer I (English (Language), Literature)
A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a doctorate degree in the respective field from a recognized University with at least four (4) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning. Candidate must also have the ability to teach courses at the undergraduate level with evidence of practical skills and competence. Evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals is also required in addition to ability to supervise post-graduate students in areas of expertise. Candidate must have been a Lecturer II for a minimum of three (3) years.

A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a doctorate degree in the respective field from a recognised University. Evidence of scholarly publications will be an added advantage.
Areas of Specialisation: English/African Poetry, Literary Theory, English Phonetics/Phonology.
