So I have this HTC gadget from Verizon, I get the unlock codes but when I put a non-Verizon SIM,I get this error 'Non Verizon SIM: This SIM is from an unknown source'. Am not prompted to enter the unlock code and as such, my 612 remains locked.

Any suggestions on getting around this?

How do I go about rooting it?
