APC should understand that campaign is over and a government can't go far with lies, propaganda and hypocrisy.

Another example is the most hyped "campaign promise of" monthly payment of N5000 to the poorest 25 million Nigerians. In as much as it is difficult to determine the poorest Nigerians, it is also not easy to account for the number that actually gets what...else politicians will divert the lot as usual...and rather volunteer to serve jail terms.

The gullible believes the proponent of this policy and the APC media propagandists that "this would be a new and most effective social welfare aimed at reducing poverty" for me it is not true, in fact it is watering down of know standard or in their own language a negative CHANGE.

Obj lead PDP government introduced poverty eradication programme, later renamed poverty alleviation...the same programme was capture under sure-p and continued during GEJ tenure. In fact during Obj era N10,000 was paid to people under the scheme in LGA's and farm implement like wheel barrows was distributed. In GEJ era menial and non skilled jobs was given under sure-p in LGA's on contract bases and salaries up to National minimum wage was given.

Don't be deceived be guided, demand for genuine CHANGE.

Read the extract***
Successive regimes in Nigeria have tried different policies and programmers geared towards reducing the level of poverty in the society through a number of ways. First, through the activities of its ministries/agencies; second, by collaborating with international agencies; third, and more importantly, through the
establishment of agencies equipped solely to fight rising poverty and unemployment in Nigeria.

The Joda Panel, established at the inception of the civilian administration of Obasanjo to review the various poverty
eradication programmers of the previous regimes, identified over twenty such institutions (list in the main article).

The National Poverty Eradication Programme (NAPEP) was established in
2001, with the goal of eliminating “core”
poverty over the next ten years. NAPEP
evolved four core schemes:
i. Women and Youth Employment Scheme. This is essentially a training and skill acquisition scheme.
ii. Social Welfare Service Scheme: This
scheme undertakes the provision of acceptable levels of education,
health, micro-credit services,etc.
iii. Rural Infrastructural Development
Scheme: This is to address provision of rural infrastructure services such as portable water, roads, transport, grazing reserves, etc.
iv. Natural Resources Development and
Conservation: This entails government
intervening by creating enabling and acceptable environment for harnessing the agricultural water, solid mineral resources, etc for convenient and effective use by the small-scale operators and local residents.

Whether these programmes and policies have succeeded in either reducing poverty or not is mute point. But this is a kind of programme a technocrat MINISTER would sit down and craftily design, the like of the past Minister for Agric. under GEJ tenure. A government without a cabinet is like a full grown man without a wife; he is largely seen as irresponsible no matter how much he comports self.
