Powers of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria.
The 1999 Constitution Third Alteration Act, 2011 confers on the National Industrial Court all powers of a High Court. The Court is empowered-
To confirm a judgment, an award or order made by the Court, tribunal or body mentioned in the matter before it;
To vary a judgment, an award or order made by the Court, tribunal or body mentioned therein;
To set aside a judgment, an award or order made by the Court , tribunal or body mentioned therein;
To order a rehearing and determination on such terms as it thinks just;
To order judgment to be entered for any party;
To make a final order or other order on such terms as it may think fit to ensure the determination on the merits of the matter in dispute between the parties;
Powers.

To make an order of mandamus requiring any act to be done
To make an order of prohibition prohibiting any proceedings cause or matter; and
To make an order of certiorari removing any proceedings, cause or matter into the Court for any purpose.
To grant urgent interim reliefs;
To make a declaratory order;
To appoint a public trustee for the management of the affairs and finances of a trade union or employees’ organization involved in any organizational disputes;
To make appropriate order for an award of compensation or damages in any circumstance contemplated by the NICA, 2006 or any Act of the National Assembly dealing with any matter that the Court  has jurisdiction to hear ; and
To make an order of compliance with any provision of any Act of the National Assembly dealing with any matter that the Court has jurisdiction to hear.

Both courts are Federal courts and have equal jurisdiction.

see at the end of the day those 22 Apc guys will never be installed. We rivers people will make sure of that

Huh yes there is a registry.

Nic still lacks jurisdiction.
This is not purely an employment matter.
The issue is whether or not the election was valid. NIC lacks jurisdiction to hear the case.

Are u more of a rivers man than the numerous supporters who also want the 22 elected officials installed as stated by the NIC? Which of the warring parties are abokiis? Speak for ursef ok.
Just like PDP has a court judgement in their favour likewise these ones have a court judgement in their favour. Deal with it.

Rivers people comes first before any other thing. We don't want any more hardship again. That why we don't want those chairmen.

Both Courts are of coordinate jurisdiction and are equal before the law. The difference is that national industrial court is a special court. Since the national industrial court earlier gave an order, the federal high court should not have made another judgment on the issue. It is an abuse of Court process.

a special court does the duties it was created to do ONLY. By the way High court adjudicated on the matter 1st and even if the Industrial Court did it won't stand Bc it lacks the jurisdiction. We are talking about election matter here, not employer/employee matter. Read your books please.

A judgement of a court can only be overturned by a higher court
An Appeal Court judgement can only be overturned by the Supreme Court..

Which is higher between the appeal court and the high court?

I do hope you guys on these tread have heard that Nic has issued a statement it has distanced itself from any directive installing or ordering the igp to reinstate any l.g chairman because of the high court verdict in port Harcourt.
