Hi everyone....A friend shared this so I thought I should present it here. What's your opinion?

WORLDLY music vs GOSPEL music

It was Debby's birthday and she was singing so loud as she took her bath.
Everyone in the neighboring flats could hear her melodious voice, as she
skillfully sang
" I believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky, I think about it every night
and day, spread my wings and fly away..."
Her father Deacon Clement couldn't wait for her to fly away yet, as he shouted
her down
" will you shut up your dirty mouth, before I break that your wings, that you
want to use and fly away"
"Daddy What have I done again, this morning?" Debby asked
"Everyone in this compound, knows am a deacon and you are busy singing all
those devilish, WORLDLY song, that had no JESUS in it, on your birthday
morning".

I was very fortunate to be exposed to music quite early in life.
Joined the choir at the age of 9 (all thanks to my music Instructor Rev Dan
Okam). That was the beginning of great things in music.
I grew to become a better singer, played few instruments, won competitions,
directed some few choirs, met a lot of great people and now a Pastor. All
these helped me, to get to the place I am today. Little wonder, my choir PFC is
the best around.(PFC pic below)
All through these period, I've always heard a lot of music directors tell their
members to listen to and sing only GOSPEL songs, as against the WORLDLY
songs.
While that is the best advice any music director can give to his choir
members, it is very important we define what a worldly song is, to prevent
assumption.
Assumption is the lowest form of knowledge.
GOSPEL vs WORLDLY
Gospel means good news.
Luke 4:18 NKJV
[18] " The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To
preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To
proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at
liberty those who are oppressed;
Worldliness is the condition of being concerned with worldly affairs to the
neglect of spiritual things. Worldliness enthrones the Devil.
............Now to the Matter.........
A lot of Christian singers therefore think that a Worldly song is a song, that
has no Jesus Christ or Jehovah mentioned in it.
They think they are gospel singers because they have JESUS fixed up in
every line of their song.
They sing songs that lack meaning, message, news( not to talk of good news)
coat it with the name of Jesus and parade themselves as gospel artists.
Meanwhile at the other end of the town.........
A talented church singer, who has a strong appreciation of singing and music
generally, sticks to the myopic opinion that his song must be heard only by
church people.
He sings a song titled "Jehovah Man of War" and goes around churches
inviting people for launching.( that launching thing doesn't work, my opinion o)
Some think that every song is categorized into either of the two, Worldly or
Gospel.
What will you call the national anthem...Worldly or Gospel?
What will you call birthday song.... Worldly or Gospel?
Nursery rhythms nko.... Worldly or Gospel?
Radio Jingles... Worldly or Gospel?
What makes a song worldly?
Is it the Song or the Singer?( debate for another day)
Is it good for a married man(pastor) to sing Love song to his wife?.. Will that be
Gospel or worldly.
What if Whiz Kid sings Oshe o!!! Baba? Will it be Worldly or Gospel
What if SINACH sings Dorobucci.. Will it turn to Gospel?
The best of the Nigerian music industry had their roots from the church.
The church cannot be the Church, if we are not relevant.
The Music Industry is one of the Systems that the Church need to conquer
and we shy away from it, because of myopic, Religious, baseless and
unfounded lies.
It's time for Church Singers to start singing about the Peace of Nigeria, Hope
For Nigeria, Faith For Nigeria, Love for Nigeria, Patriotism, Jingles for adverts,
Sing about your football club. Just make sure it doesn't enthrone the devil.
We have what it takes, to storm the Nigerian mainstream music Industry and
take that system for our God. It belongs to us.
When you solve problems, you stop being broke.
Sing that song, it must not be sung in the church, make sure it sends a good
news to some one. Don't make it WORLDLY but who said you can't make it
CONTEMPORARY.
We are the salt of the World
The Salt will have to leave it's container, into the pot of soup, before it can
change the taste of the soup. Get out of your religious cover in and profit with
what God has given you.
GO CONTEMPORARY and share the Good-news.
Hope Religion allows you see the truth in this matter.

God bless

What a very nice point you've made.

It's just so sad that our people are so parochial.

That's how someone played Ed Sheeran's perfect in the church (during a love feast), and some gullibles were reprimanding him. Like what type of song were they expecting to be played during a love feast? I taya for our people jare.
