5 Foreign Universities That Offer Scholarships Nigerians

One of the main reasons Nigerian youths move abroad is because of scholarship opportunities in foreign universities, and you shouldn’t be exempted from these rare academic opportunities – if you’d only take the necessary steps to research into foreign scholarship offers that meet your academic and career needs.

We’ve done the initial research for you here by listing out 5 of the foreign universities that offer Nigerian students full scholarships abroad; however, you’d need to analyze individual offers and see how they meet your basic and peculiar needs before taking the next required steps toward getting admission in your desired school of choice.

Diverse scholarships exist for undergraduate, graduate, master, Ph.D, and post-doctoral programs, but you must do your due diligence before settling for any particular school of choice.

1. Bournemouth University International Scholarship

Also located in the UK, you are eligible to apply for a postgraduate or masters degree level scholarship at the Bournemouth University if you’re resident in Nigeria, Columbia, Vietnam, Nepal, and India and wish to go for a full-time program. This scholarship provides for a full tuition fee waiver; and you must demonstrate exceptional academic profile as assessed by NARIC and possess an outstanding personal profile to be selected for admission. You can apply via email or post, but the deadline for applications is 31 May 2015.

2. MBA scholarships at Cranfield University

Located in the UK, Cranfield School of Management at Cranfield University provides MBA scholarships for Nigerian students at the master’s degree level, and the award covers up to £15,000 of your tuition fees – which is significant enough. You can apply online or download an application form which is returned by email or post. The following selection criteria may apply to you:

· Applicants career to date

· Applicants reasons for wanting to do an MBA at Cranfield at this point in your career

· Applicants potential for senior management

· Applicants academic and/or professional qualifications

· Applicants test scores (GMAT/Cranfield tests)

· Applicants references

· The conclusions reached by the interviewer

There are three stages of applications and the deadlines are: Stage 2 – 30 January 2015, Stage 3 – 24 April 2015 and Stage 4 – 26 June 2015.



3. University of Nottingham


Located in the UK, this university offers students of African descent scholarships in its high achiever foundation prize program. You should, however, be ready to study programs related to arts, engineering, science, business, and social sciences to be eligible, and this program provides a £2,000 tuition fee award for the first year of study only, and you must already have an offer for a full-time foundation program at the university by September 2015. You are free to apply online, but the application closes 27 March, 2015.

4. University of Aberdeen


Scholarship opportunities are open to Nigerians and Ghanaians at the College of Arts and Social Sciences or the College of Life Sciences and Medicine of the University of Aberdeen in the UK. You must possess a First Class degree from a reputable university in Nigeria or Ghana or from a British university to be eligible, and the scholarship covers up to £2000 of fees. You must also not be under any current scholarship or academic funding to be considered for the West Africa Merit Scholarship, and must have already been offered a position in January or September 2015. The closing date for applications is 30 June 2015.

5. King’s College London


If you’re a Nigerian student and willing to undergo your LLM Law program in London, then the King’s College London might be the place for you. This is only for Law students and will cover about £25,000 – broken down as £18,400 to cover tuition fees in full and £6,600 contribution towards living costs while still studying at the college. However, you must show evidence of financial difficulty to be accepted for the program, and you must be willing to return to Nigeria after completing your studies to share your knowledge with your people, and also be ready to provide an end of year report and letter of thanks to your sponsors. The application deadline is 31 March 2015.

Lagos Business school of Pan-Atlantic University now offers full scholarship on the African Leading full time MBA Programme. These scholarships are obtainable for international students. The scholarship's aim is to produce graduates of accountable character with mandatory knowledge making them skilled for national leadership.The Pan-Atlantic University is a non-public, non-profit educational institute in Nigeria. The university originated from the Lagos Business school (LBS), established in 1991.
