A 26-year-old civil servant from Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State has committed suicide.

The deceased, identified as Daniel Haruna, allegedly drank a poisonous chemical substance, known as Gamali 20, popularly used to kill rodents, last Sunday.

It was learned that Daniel was battling with alcohol and found it impossible to drop the habit, a development that put him in constant need of money.

According to a family member, who pleaded anonymity, Daniel who lived with his younger, brother, Musa, came home late last Saturday and asked his younger brother for food.

Musa was said to have asked the deceased what happened to the money he gave him to prepare the meal for that day, which he did not prepare.
