Can somebody tell these CBN people to do more in making the Naira appreciate cos this devaluation is really affecting us buying and shopping online.
it is not directly their fault. as long as we keep importing and our Fx is mostly from crude oil. the value of naira will continue to depreciate. we need to start producing items for local consumption and exports to help naira appreciate.

1. Do the above.
2. Get the refineries working (including new ones) so we stop importing refined products, rather exporting refined products.(This will barely affect the price. It my only reduce it marginally)
3. Review importation of food, and some other silly items.(Whats wrong with imports? Does Nigeria not want to export silly thigs like dried fish and cocoa?
Imports are vital for the country. They are strong drivers of growth. Wheat imports alone create livelihoods for millions of Nigeria, the me as rice. Textile imports were reckoned at one time to provide employment for a million nigerians.

The problem is when you don't export. Nigeria needs to push exports ferociously.)

4. Improve power supply. (Good one. It will increase productivity and competitiveness )
5. Encourage exports (all). (That is number 1)
6. Work on security. (This too will help greatly)
7. Attack corruption and stealing of public funds. (This too wll help. But note that countries like Thailand and Indonesia are growing despite corruption. What really matters are good economic policies)
8. Checkmate currency racketeering from the FG, CBN, banks, NNPC, BDCs, to independent racketeers. (Currency rackteering booms when their is a huge disparity bewteen the official and parralel rates. If its not more than 3%, its nothing to bother about.)

Do 90% of those, and watch the Naira trade at N85-N125/$1 within 3-6 months.
