For any fan of a particular sport Watching it, it is hard not to get swept up in the emotions or euphoria of what is being played out, it goes past winning or losing for the those involved players and fans alike because a lot has been invested in the player or team as the case may be.

Sport has become a unifying factor transcending boundaries, color, tribes and culture.

We have seen back then how sport has helped in mending insurmountable divisions in society. Take south Africa for instance, the country was on the verge of being called a failed state until Late Nelson Mandela resolved to end it and years later unified the whole of South Africa during the 1995 cricket world cup after South Africa had been expelled from all International competitions.
Sports on a basic level brings out the virtues of human beings from speed, stamina, strength, intelligence, mutual respect for a fellow man be he black or white, discipline and fair play, citius, altius and fortious is what athletes strive for. This along with the power to unify makes it entertainment at its best and it attracts an immense audience and has a great economic reach.
Sports does not exist in a vacuum, it mirrors aspects of society and acts as an agent of change.
