1. Mashed potatoes

Well mashed potatoes are one of the best foods to eat as you heal after the surgery. It is easy to chew and can be combined with gravy, butter or sour cream for more variety. You can even consider pairing it with dishes such as beef stew, meatloaf and pot roast. If needed, sweet potatoes can be considered.

2. Warm soup

Although most soups have pieces of vegetables/meat which could be quite large, some are acceptable. The best soup in this case would be chicken noodle, cream of celery or well-pureed vegetable soup. It may be important to wait a couple of days after the procedure before eating soup.

3. Fruit smoothies

Fruit smoothies are nice in the initial days, and it doesn’t matter whether they are fresh or frozen. You can mix them with your favorite yogurt flavor and some ice for a healthy and nutritious drink. Some people also add additives such as protein powder to boost the nutritional value.

4. Milkshakes

Like smoothies, milkshakes are an excellent choice of food immediately after the extraction of wisdom teeth. They are really easy to eat or drink and can be combined with various products to add flavor and/or nutritional value; meal replacement powder and instant breakfast packets are good choices. When taking milkshakes, make sure to avoid using a straw for some period of time, because doing so can exert excessive pressure on your sensitive gums.

5. Soft meat

You can eat most soft, tender meats, regardless of whether it is poultry, beef or pork. Simply make sure to cut it into small pieces and always chew on the non-extraction part. Like all other food items, meat should not require a lot of chewing.

6. Instant pudding

This is another easy to consume food. Instant pudding is available in different flavors so one is sure to find a flavor they like. Lemon-flavored pudding can be a good choice for those who prefer foods/drinks that don’t taste so sweet.

7. Ice cream

Cold ice cream is good as you slowly make the transition to semi-solid and solid foods. The coldness can go a long way towards soothing the pain and swelling. Note that the ice creams should not have any fruit pieces/bits in them.

8. Scrambled eggs

Scrambled eggs can add some good amount of protein to your diet and are also easy to chew. When starting, try to eat them plain and probably later consider adding some finely chopped herbs or whatever else you might enjoy.
