Spanish clothing magnate Amancio Ortega, 79, over took Microsoft founder Bill Gates for the first time ever in the Forbes rich list. According to Forbes's real-time tracker, the elusive multibillionaire founder of European clothing retailer Zara smashed past Bill Gates to become the wealthiest person on the planet, with a fortune of $79.8 billion (€71.83 billion or £51.84 billion). Bill Gates' estimated net worth is $79.5bn as of this afternoon. He's expected to take back his top position from Ortega. The elusive Ortega isn't as much of a household name as Gates, but he's quietly ascended the wealth rankings in recent years, as his company continues to perform well and expand. Unlike many of the richest people in the world, Ortega has a fascinating rags-to-riches story. Born in 1936 during the Spanish Civil War, Ortega's father earned 300 pesetas a month, a meager salary. Ortega's biographer described his memories of a childhood during which his family could not always afford enough food. He left school in his early teens, working his way up from the absolute bottom rung as a messenger boy in a shop. It wasn't until he was 40 years old that Ortega got around to setting up Zara, the fast-fashion retailer that has gone from strength to strength — first growing in Spain, then neighbouring Portugal and France, then London. Now it's all over the globe. According to Forbes, Ortega's wealth rose by 5.3%, another $4 billion, over the last 24 hours. That's partly down to a surge in Inditex shares, the parent company that owns Zara. In the last 10 years, the market value of Inditex has risen by about 570%, the main driver of Ortega's climb up the ranks. n an odd turn of events, Ortega hasMario Draghi to thank for his new rank — the head of the European Central Bank's hints that the ECB would boost its quantitative-easing programme on Thursday sent shares in the eurozone surging upwards. Today, Wednesday, October 7, 2015, one of Julius Agwu’s children, Zadok, is two. The boy, who is the comedian’s second child, celebrated his day at school with his colleagues.Recall that in 2014, the ‘Crack Your Ribs’ comedy show organiser threw a flamboyant birthday party for his two children, Zahra and Zadok on October 19 at Fun Factory in Lekki area of Lagos State. That occasion was attended by several celebs with their kids. Perhaps, he would do the same thing in 2015. His two children celebrate their birthdays at different days in October. source ... http://www.vivianblog.com/julius-agwus-son-zadok-celebrates-his-2-years-birthday.html

Rapists to face 14-year jail term without bail in KanoRapists to face 14-year jail term without bail in Kano The Kano State Solicitor General, Mukthar Daneji, has disclosed that due to the rapid rise in rape cases, the state has finally put a 14-year jail term without option of fine as minimum punishment for rape culprits. The Solicitor General, speaking during Justice for All Conference in the State, Wednesday, said the punishment for rape which was originally one or two years or fine, had been changed with a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. He further explained that many parents now come forward to report their children being raped. He attributed it to the awareness campaign put forward by the state. Also, he said so far, they have disposed hundreds of cases and many people have been convicted after found guilty. In the same vein, the Country Director of the Justice for All (J4A), Bob Arnot, said his organisation was working hand in hand with the police and the judiciary to increase safety, security and justice reform with regard to sexual gender violations. The Country Director, worried that J4A has recorded minimal successes in terms of getting justice for the over 1000 cases it had come across, noting that the J4A was assisting NGOs and CSOs to establish referral centers for victims of HIV and other sexual abuse problems. source ... http://www.vivianblog.com/rapists-to-face-14-year-jail-term-without-bail-in-kano.html

The police have arrested a medical doctor, Amadi Uzoma, and five others over allegations of kidnapping and child trafficking. The other suspects, Faith Nuhu, Chigozie Goodwill, Mrs. Evelyn Ojiaku, John Ojiaku, and an auditor in Imo State civil service, Mrs. Elizabeth Oyemoabi, were accused of criminal conspiracy and kidnapping. Parading the suspects at the Force Headquarters on Monday in Abuja, the Force Public Relations Officer, CP Emmanuel Ojukwu, said their activities were uncovered by police investigation into the kidnapping of three siblings, Grace Idris,13, Philip Idris, 3, and Paul Isaac, 2, by their older relative, Nuhu and her alleged accomplice, Goodwill. According to Ojukwu, investigation into the reported kidnapping of the siblings by detectives of the Force Analytical Tracking and Interception Centre geo-located the GSM numbers of the suspects to Owerri in Imo state. He said further analytical tracking led to the arrest of the first suspect, Nuhu and the second suspect, Goodwill in Edo state. “They confessed that they kidnapped their three victims in Kafanchan, Kaduna State and discarded Grace Idris, the oldest victim along Abuja-Jos highway. “The two minors Philip Idris and Paul Isaac were delivered to the third suspect, Mrs. Evelyn Ojiaku at the cost of N600, 000,” Ojukwu said. He revealed that Ojiaku is operating a private hospital known as Royal Maternity/Clinic and Child Care Service around Umuiyi Akaba Ikeduru, off kilometer 6, Owerri-Okigwe Road in Imo state. According to the police spokesman, Ojiaku used the facility for trafficking in children with the connivance of her son, John, adding that the medical doctor, Ozuma, provides medical services in the hospital. Ojukwu said Ojiaku confessed that she earlier bought a day-old biological male child at the cost of N100, 000 in September 2014, before she later supplied Idris and Isaac for N600, 000. He said Ojiaku admitted selling the first child sold to her by Nuhu to one Angele, a female resident of Lagos State, at the cost of N300,000 in September 2014, and she also confessed to buying five more children which she had sold to different families. Ojukwu said Ojiaku also confessed to have been assisted in selling the children by Onyemuobi. He said all the children had been traced and recovered from their adopted parents, some of who adopted the children without knowledge of the illegal activities of the fake child-care centre. Ojukwu called on persons looking to adopt children to follow approved channels and not to patronise “child harvesters,” stating that the suspects will soon be charged to court. view more click http://www.donaldsense.com/police-parade-medical-doctor-five-others-for-child-trafficking-disgrace/
