And that is what we are talking about, let every administration probe the past one in order to keep them on their toes, and it also enhances accountability and eradicate impunity,no more chop and clean mouth govt. ,but sadly people call this wicht hunting.

Buhari may not be able to carve any significant niche in government and governance... outside propaganda by 2019...I wish he will prove me wrong but facts on ground show otherwise...

Refineries, Rail projects, Polio, Nigerians blast Buhari

Nigerians have begun to criticize President Muhammadu Buhari for taking credit for the recent feat in the rehabilitation of refineries, railway projects and the eradication of polio in Nigeria.

Tunde Okoli, who spoke to Post Nigeria said “Turn around maintenance of refineries (old and archaic ones like we have for that matter) is not a day’s job.

“Perhaps, you guys want to claim GMB already put the refurbishing of the refineries in motion since 2014 when he, obviously was still contemplating what future awaits his political career when the opposition coalition that brought him to power was still in the making.

“That was how one goon listed the man’s statutory roles as “achievements” in a post barely two week ago and ended up labeling Buhari ‘SUPERMAN.’ Can you imagine that buffoonery?”

Adain said “The turn-around-maintenance has been on for some time. We did not just want to make any noise about it…

“When GEJ was in, they didn’t want to make noise about it. This made GEJ to look like he wasn’t doing anything. Suddenly, Buhari began ‘making noise about it.’

“Jonathan wanted to surprise Nigerians upon completion of the overhaul process?

“What we need is the change you promised, consolidate on the achievement and stop taking credit, you cannot reap were you have not sown.”

To most analysts, President Goodluck Jonathan’s name will be written in gold for his administration’s pragmatic efforts in reviving the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, which has been comatose for nearly 30 years.

Some of the listed rails under construction and will soon be commissioned are 322km Lagos-Benin City line, 500km Benin-Abakiliki line, 673km Benin-Obudu Cattle Ranch line, 615km Lagos-Abuja high speed line, 520km Zaria-Birnin- Koni line, 533km Ega nyi-Otukpo and the Ega nyi-Abuja line.

Presently, you can now travel by rail from Lagos to Kano; Enugu to Port-Harcourt to Makurdi, to Jos, to Bauchi and Gombe.

It is projected that 700,000 passengers will ride the Abuja Light Rail, ALR, on a daily basis, courtesy Jonathan when the first phase of the project takes off soon.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have called on Buhari to get ready to be probed as soon as he leaves office.

A lawmaker representing Ohaozara/Onicha/ Ivo, Ebonyi State Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Linus Okorie reminded Buhari of the Natural law of “what goes around comes around,” stressing that if Buhari decides to be unfair to his predecessor, he should expect similar treatment from his successor.

This is coming at a time when Buhari said he will only probe the Jonathan administration pushing several political analysts to label such moves nothing beyond witch-hunting.

They were of the opinion that Buhari should have started his probe from 1984, when Ibrahim Badamosi Babaginda’s military regime was in power saying that was when corruption was institutionalized with the discovery of oil.

Okorie in a statement issued in Abakaliki accused Buhari of not acknowledging former Jonathan’s legacies and achievements in the last dispensation.

He urged Buhari to resist the need to play the blame game, by first of all acknowledging the contributions of his predecessors, who fought Boko Haram to a standstill before it escalated within two months on Buhari’s assumption of office.

Okorie pointed out that it was unfair and unjust for the Buhari administration to take credit for the achievements of Jonathan without acknowledging the role of the initiators of the projects.

“Just like the opposition must be constructive in criticizing the government in power, the sitting government owes its predecessor, itself and the wider Nigerian public the moral and social duty of acknowledging the positive accomplishments of their predecessors.”

Giving examples, he decried that Buhari had been all over the media celebrating Nigeria’s one year polio free anniversary without any reference to Jonathan and his policy team that totally achieved the feat.

“The Jonathan administration introduced cutting edge anti-corruption technology-based Public Finance management tools including IPPIS, GIFMIS and TSA, which the present government is now laying claims for ghost workers elimination, funds accountability and transparency monitoring, without giving credit appropriately.

“The Federal Capital Territory Authority, FCTA, has also announced that the Abuja rail project, conceived and implemented by the Jonathan administration is 67 percent completed. This credit should also be formally attributed to the past government.

“I hold the view that the Buhari administration should imbibe the necessary humility and courage to give credit as necessary even as it continues to put the out-gone government to task in established areas of weakness or malfeasance.

“That is leadership. I also appeal to the media as social engineers to also encourage the Presidency in this onerous responsibility. We owe posterity that much,” Okorie stressed.
