Nigeria Made Top Ten In University Ranking In Africa

During an interview section held by Akwasi Sarpong of BBC were he interviewed Phil Baty Editor of the World University Rankings of Times Higher Education (THE) have unveil summary of high ranking universities in Africa as Nigeria Made Top Ten In University Ranking In Africa, kudos to University of Porth-Harcourt.

Cape Town University is the at the Number 1 in the ranking list, South Africa dominated the top five ranking.

Akwasi Sarpong: How Come They Got Quit A Place In Your List?

Phil Baty: Well it is a very narrow ranking actually base on purely research excellence in what we do as we look into all our research publications in a database called “scopeless” by measuring the amount of times this research is been sited by an amount of scholars on how much they research, pushing a boundary of knowledge and how much it influences global scholarships.

Akwasi Sarpong: Tell us about other Universities outside South Africa that have been ranked

Phil Baty: Well as I said earlier that Uganda University made it to the 3rd place as Nigeria Made The Top Ten which was a surprise to many which has much smaller institution “that’s the Port-Harcourt University (UNIPORT)” “that’s right, Yes”, it made 6th place which also have smaller amount of research but have higher amount of impact compare to the global averages.

Kenya University made 8th place, we also have Morocco University, we included North America and North Africa in the list were Morocco University made it to 10th, Pictorial University made 11th in South Africa, University of Ghana made 12th position.
