Mercedes-Benz has launched the current sixth generation S-Class since 2013. Back in 2015, work began on the next generation of the flagship, now it is almost completed, but you will have to wait for the official debut: the W223 series sedan will be shown in early autumn 2020. The other day, the German manufacturer partially declassified the interior of the model using a teaser with a large-screen image of the infotainment system, and now Mercedes-Benz has shown the entire interior.

Moreover, the interior was shown using a special egg-shaped capsule: a copy of the next-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class interior was recreated inside it. Although, we note, earlier photo spies have already declassified not only the interior decoration, but also the appearance of the future flagship of the brand.

As previously reported, the car has fewer physical buttons (their number has been reduced by 27 “keys”), and it has also been equipped with the second-generation MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) multimedia system. The main screen of the system is located in the center of the front panel and looks like a square tablet. For an additional fee, you can choose the version on OLED organic LEDs.

The MBUX infotainment complex performs even more functions than before. It can store and load as needed the personal settings of seven users. They can, among other things, be transferred between the seats of one car and whether they can be downloaded from the “cloud” to another car of the brand with a system of the same generation. It is curious that the position of the side mirrors in this case will independently adjust to a different body size.

MBUX Interior Assist is also responsible for safety: the assistant makes sure that the child seat in the front row is installed correctly, in addition, he can recognize the passenger’s intention to leave the car (this is monitored by the camera in the passenger compartment) and turns on the flashing red light in case another car is approaching at this moment. Also, his duties include, of course, monitoring the driver’s fatigue (the system is able to warn about the “symptoms” of the microsleep) and analyzing the movements of the head, trunk and arms in order to turn on the backlight over the front seat in time or remove the rear sunshade.

Refreshed Audi Q5: multimedia with voice recognition and updated engine range

Sales of the new crossover German brand in Europe and the United States will begin in the fall. Prices for a restyled SUV are already known.

Audi has been releasing the current second generation of the Q5 crossover since 2017. Last year, the model’s performance decreased slightly, for example, in the United States, customers bought 67,516 units, which is 3.5% less than a year earlier; and European dealers sold 63,915 units in 2019, which corresponds to a decline of 9.8%. Now the SUV got to the planned restyling, the updated car was declassified on the Web.

The “freshened” Audi Q5 has the base head optics LED, and as an option, matrix headlights with dynamic turn signals are offered. The initially updated Audi Q5 will only hit the market with a 2.0-liter TDI turbo diesel with 204 bhp. and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. This engine has expanded the range of the current SUV last year. The motor works in tandem with a 12-volt starter-generator (an MHEV add-on that is responsible for the start-stop system and turns off the engine during braking at a speed of 22 km / h). The car has a quattro ultra all-wheel drive system (with a pair of rear axle couplings) and a seven-speed S tronic “automatic” with double clutch. To accelerate from zero to “hundreds”, such a crossover needs 7.6 seconds, the maximum speed is 222 km / h.

So far, a refreshed sedan, intended only for the American market, is presented. Models received a slightly corrected appearance, inside there are more significant changes, but the engines are the same.

In the United States, the four-door Toyota Camry of the current generation started in 2017. Three years for the model is not such a long time (if it is not China, of course), but easy restyling is already quite acceptable. And although according to the results of 2019, the Camry is the best-selling sedan in the United States, however, it nevertheless went into a “minus”: 336,978 cars were sold, which is almost 2% less compared to 2018. That is, the new thing is clearly the way.

So, the company refused the simplest execution of L, henceforth the “initial” configuration is LE. This version and the next XLE (they are called “comfort-oriented” in the company) no longer have a distinct V-shaped detail in the front, and the grille is limited to chrome “horseshoes”. In the “sport-oriented” variants of SE and XSE, the grill now is with honeycombs instead of a simple mesh, air intakes were also designed, plus black inserts appeared above them. The palette of body colors and the range of discs are also expanded. But the feed is the same. The “sporty” Camry TRD did not seem to have changed at all, but it was given a new, exclusive color.

Inside installed a multimedia system with a “floating” screen (like RAV4), that is, rising above the front panel (for the pre-reform sedan, a display is built into it). The updated Camry was the first model of the brand to receive a modified set of Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ safety systems. Updated Range Rover and Range Rover Sport: Ingenium anniversary diesel engine

This year, Range Rover celebrates its 50th anniversary. By the round date, the flagship SUV and its younger brother with the Sport prefix received an Ingenium in-line 6-cylinder diesel engine with power from 249 to 350 hp, which will replace the V6 and V8 diesels.

The debut of the new diesel engine in 2020 is an event, because many manufacturers, under the onslaught of difficult environmental requirements, abandon this type of engine (for example, Porsche, Volvo, Honda, Subaru). The 3-liter Ingenium diesel engine, of course, complies with the current Euro 6d-Final standards, but for this I had to use the whole arsenal of modern “treatment facilities”, which in a sense can be attributed to a hybrid 48-volt superstructure: the starter-generator connected to the crankshaft helps diesel engine when starting and intense acceleration, and therefore allows you to burn a little less fuel and throw a little less harmful substances into the atmosphere.

The design features of the new motor also include an aluminum block, two successive tube compressors and an injection pressure of 2500 bar. The manufacturer has not yet disclosed other technical details, but the transition to in-line architecture is most likely connected with the modularity of the architecture of Ingenium engines (it allows to reduce production costs) and the convenience of installing a bulky exhaust gas purification system. For this reason, Daimler also recently returned to in-line 6-cylinder engines.

There are three versions of the new diesel engine: the D250 with a return of 246 hp. and 600 Nm, D300 – 300 hp and 650 Nm, D350 – 350 hp, 700 Nm. They will replace the diesel engines 3.0 liter V6 (249-306 hp, 600-700 Nm) and 4.4 liter V8 (339 hp, 740 Nm).

It turns out that the D350 version surpasses the previous V8 in return, while the new motor is 80 kg lighter. Being installed on Range Rover Sport, the most powerful Ingenium emits 238 g of CO2 per 100 km of run compared to 275 g / km of an SUV with a V8 diesel engine, the average passport fuel consumption decreased from 10.5 to 9.1 l / 100 km, acceleration time to 100 km / h decreased from 7.2 to 6.9 s.

In addition to the new diesel, Range Rover and Range Rover Sport received a smoother multimedia system with standard support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone interfaces, and the anniversary theme is reflected in special versions – three for each model.

The most “frontal” – limited Fifty (1970 units in honor of the model year) for Range Rover, with engraved strokes in the cabin Jerry McGovern, Land Rover chief designer, a golden exterior instead of chrome, 22-inch wheels of a special design and three exclusive body colors to choose from. The SVAutobiography Dynamic Black version of the flagship SUV includes the top-end 565-horsepower V8 petrol, glossy black exterior decor and armchairs upholstered in black aniline perforated leather. Hyundai Veloster N 2020, now with automatic transmission

The Hyundai Veloster is that peculiar Korean coupe that earned a place in our memories for its asymmetric body, with a door on one side and two on the other. Although the previous generation was sold in Europe, the truth is that the current generation focuses on markets such as Korean or the United States and is not present in Europe. And it is a real shame we consider versions such as the Hyundai Veloster N 2020 that has just been presented.

The sports variant has been around until now, but it receives an interesting update. To date, the 275 bhp 2.0 Turbo four-cylinder engine could only go with a six-speed manual gearbox. However, the model now receives the eight-speed dual-clutch N DCT automatic transmission. Thanks to it they improve their benefits considerably.

The new automatic Hyundai Veloster N announces an acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.6 seconds, which is an improvement of half a second compared to the previous manual (it did in 6.1 seconds). It should be noted that this transmission has several systems that will be interesting. The N Grin Shift (NGS) increases torque by 7%, from the original 353 Nm to 378 Nm, temporarily for 20 seconds to generate “a smile for the driver”.

It also has the N Power Shift (NPS), a system that is activated when full throttle (more than 90%) so that there is no reduction in torque and always reaches maximum power to the wheels. On the other hand, the N Track Sense Shift (NTS) is automatically activated when conditions are optimal and allows for more successful gear timing. Other functionalities such as Rev Matching, Launch Control or Overboost remain as before; that were already present.

The interior of the Hyundai Veloster N also improves thanks to the N Light Sports seats, optional buckets that are upholstered in Alcantara and hold the driver better than the standard ones. They also help save 2kg per seat and feature details such as the illuminated N logo on the top of the backrest. It will maintain the infotainment system with an 8-inch screen, the JBL sound system or a generous list of driving aids with the Hyundai SmartSense.
