" Nigeria jaga jaga. Everything scatter scatter, Gbosa…," is a popular song from the repertoire of pop crooner, Idris Abdukareem. The song has gained so much popularity lately that one hears it being chanted by men and women, young and old alike in all parts of the country. The popularity of the song derives not so much for the artistic ingenuity put into it or its rhythm but for making a mockery of Nigerian statehood.

Over the years, we have observed the trend among the populace to resort to making jest in various forms and manners of the Nigerian State. In the name of cynicism, despair, apathy or whatever, the common people have come to take liberty at casting aspersion, without the slightest qualms and at little provocation, on the name and integrity of Nigeria, much against the spirit and letters of the National pledge. This is an unfortunate development that should be arrested immediately or what do you think guys in the house ?? embarassed embarassed embarassed
