Electoral Commissioners (RECs) by the Department of State Services (DSS) over the outcome of the April 11 governorship elections, which is currently being contested at the Election Tribunals.

The Executive Director, Conscience Nigeria, Comrade Tosin Adeyanju, raised the alarm Tuesday in a statement signed on behalf of other CSOs partners entitled: "DSS Assault, Intimidation, Coercion and Illegal Detention of Akwa Ibom and Rivers RECs: Threat to Nigerian Democracy".

Adeyanju deplored what he described as the rising use of the DSS to intimidate and arrest opposition members, and as well as those who supervised the decision that does favour the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) like the results of Akwa Ibom and Rivers gubernatorial elections.

"We are further alarmed to address this press conference after a similar one about three weeks ago on the state of the nation and the DSS activities under the present leadership of the country", he said.

I am used to stories like this being recanted before the dawn of a new day.
I really hope that it is, else Barca's thread would be justified fully.

However, I reject, and I speak in strong terms against any form of intimidation, harassment or outright maltreatment of any human being, either for politically based motives or whatever else there might be.

It behoves on the president of this nation to call the people of the DSS to order.

This is outrageous and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.

Those who argue that it happened in the former admin should realize that it is not one to be encouraged.
I am sure there were people who spoke against it then.

Whatever happens, we owe ourselves a moral duty to call a spade a spade, and allow our conscience be governed by truth, not blind support or hypnotic support.

When they allowed the boko boys to massacre innocent students in their sleep, that was not human right abuse.
