The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers
State has commended President Muhammadu
Buhari for fast-tracking the implementation of
the United Nations Environment Programme
(UNEP) report on the clean-up of Ogoni land.
In a statement issued on Friday on behalf of
the state Chairman of PDP, Felix Obuah, by his
media aide, Jerry Needam, the party said it
“Welcomes the announcement by the
Presidency of fast-tracking the clean-up of
Ogoniland as part of the recommendations
contained in the United Nations Environmental
Programme (UNEP) Report on the devastation
pollution of Ogoniland by oil exploration
activities of the Shell Petroleum Development
Company (SPDC) and allied multinational
corporations.
“The PDP commends President Buhari for not
discontinuing a process started by previous
administrations, which led to the
commissioning of UNEP activities in Ogoni as
well as setting up of the Hydrocarbon Pollution
Restoration Project (HYPREP), particularly by
the Jonathan’s administration, all of which were
being gazetted.”

Very good thing Rivers State PDP has done here, commending the President for the nice step taken for the benefit of the people.

Not acting like the usual Nigerian opposition party criticising every steps taken without weighing the benefit or risk.

I don't even expect you to hail him, i expect you to do as usual by finding a way to beat around the issue and condem Pres Buhari

Mark my words

After 2yrs of President Buhari, even the opposition will not be able to take a swipe at the presidency, by then anybody condeming PMB will be seen as the ENEMY of this Nation

While I appreciate the rhetoric of President Buhari with respect to the clean up, I will not praise him until I see something tangible on ground.

The PDP are simply giving the APC government the noose to hang its neck. Wait till two years from now and see as the same faction will lash out at the APC on the shoddy implementation of this same policy

If you look at the overral result again and check states by states, you will see that Buhari got more vote in South South than south east despite the fact that Jonathan is south south.

There is a difference between the south south and South East position when it comes to BUhari vs Jonathan election.

South South people are not Anti North neither are we Anti-Buhari. We voted Jonathan because he is our brother. it was a natural thing to do. No matter how bad your father is, he is still your father. That was the basis of south south vote. It was not because we hate the North or we hate Buhari.

But for South East, it was purely hatred because of Jealousy and pains of Biafra. South East people hate the North. And also because Jonathan favoured even the south East more than South South durng his administration.

As far as we the south south are concern, there is no difference between the Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa. To us, these are three major tribe struggling and fighting for Supiriority. Whenever any of the three is loosing, he shout Marginalization.

During Jonathan govt, the Igbo was gaining and were in control and was happy. The Yoruba were losing and Yoruba were shouting Marginalization. The hausa/fulani were not happy because they were not fully in control. For the North we can slightly understand because in the 16years of democracy (May 1999 to May 2015) the south ruled 13.3years while the North had just 2.7years

The Igbo don't love us more than the hausa or Yoruba love us. All the three tribe are all struggling for the control of south south oil. None of the three is better than the other as far as we south south are concern.

i agree, but he is very correct.can you pls open a new post with this and let people really understand this fact.many ss voted out of the feeling that jonah was our own .no matter how bad your son is you will never give out to the lion to eat.the ss never benefited in anyway from jonah govt even in terms of appoitments.only the militants got some few goodies.many of the project were basicaly on paper unlike the se that got alot from jonah.in terms of corrupt enrichment they got more than any other region.the fact is jonah favoured the se more given out 117bn for a brigde and many other projects.even when the east west rd was totally abandoned.the yorubas voted marjorly against his percived incompetence and marginilization.the question i asked a friend some time ago was if ameachi was to run against a person like say atiku who would the ss and se vote for.the ss will vote for him while the se will .pls conclude .
