PORT HARCOURT—A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, has adjourned till August 20, for ruling in the suit by former Governor Rotimi Amaechi, challenging the powers of Governor Nyesom Wike to set up a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate his administration. Trial judge in the matter is Justice Simeon Amadi. Wike and Amaechi It will be recalled that Governor Wike had set up a commissioner of inquiry headed by Justice George Omereji to look into allegations around these issues “sale of Omoku 150MW Gas Turbine, Afam 360 MW Gas Turbine, Trans Amadi 136MW Gas Turbine and Eleme 75 MW Gas Turbine, the sale of Olympia hotel, the monorail project, the non-execution of the construction of the Justice Adolphus Karibi Whyte Specialist Hospital after the payment of alleged $39.2,000 to the supposed contractor, the disbursement or use by the Rivers State Ministry of Agriculture of the sum of alleged the N2 billion Agriculture Credit Guarantee Scheme fund, the withdrawal of expenditure of the accrued N96b from the Rivers State Reserve Fund Law No 2 of 2008.” The commission called for memoranda on the issue last month. Meantime, former Governor Amaechi challenged the move by the state government to look into the issues. Anyone who has no skeleton in his cupboard should not be afraid of probe. I don't like Wike and his style, but Amaechi should not use the courts to stop his probe. That is already an indictment 1 Like |

The same courts he shut down for over a year. The same judiciary that saw him into office back in 2007 and he subsequently abused because unfortunately it is not exactly an independent tier of government and is subject to the whims n caprice of the executive to an extent. Now he runs to the same judiciary to stop an investigation into his time in office while he is gallivanting all over Abuja and bad-mouthing GEJ, not minding that same probe is ongoing at Federal level. The hypocrisy of this man and his associates is amazing and I expect the courts, if only to teach him a lesson, to dismiss his suit and let everything be exposed, good or bad! Such a turncoat! He does not like money this is just to make it look as if he likes money so that GMB won't consider all the donations and huge sums he spent during campaigns and then he will miSs out on the ministerial post that will make him recover the money spent which he does not like...... Maybe the VP was stylishly telling all other APC chieftain if they are faced with the amaechi situation they should emulate him by running to the courts to stop probe(s) against them...
