khaikhai do u konw that most of the ps3 parts are replaceable except the main board? i deal on games and we render services for technical support to assist our customers  ,  to me with what ogb5 has said it can be fix and the ps3 will be back alive in a pefect working condition .

yeah it can be fix temporarily, but after a while it re-occur.

the problem is where is your location because i do know of a man that repaires psone,ps2,ps3,psp,xbox,xbox360,nintendo in fact even computer and any electronic devices in port harcourt if you are interested i will give you his number so you will call him and speak one on one.

It is easy to fix. Upload the a new firmware. Also go to sony's website, there are a few tips. You need to be here live for me to help you if you want. There are a few things you can do. Please do not pay someone to do it for you, It should be fixable.

Who makes this guy "a specialist" in that field? I will like to think no one have any idea what they are doing when it comes to ps3 repair in Nigeria, but Sony.

I partly agree with you. But my concern is who makes this guy an expert in fixing ps3? Here is an example from my experience - we took a car home and the so called mechanic [who is apparently good] have no idea what to do.

His problem is a simple firmware upgrade gone botched [Going by what he is saying]. He can fix it. It is very simple to do.

But if he wants to pay someone then be my guest.

i can understand the area u were coming frm, refering to wot u 've said technical knw hw depends on level of reseach u passed thru. don't be suprised that u can be far better than the mechanic u called to fix your car, cos he's not up to date in his area of specialization the same thing applies to all technician,, i'm not praising these guy he's good, he has tackled so many problems which i have confirmed.
