Resident doctors of the University College Hospital, Ibadan, have suspended the 105-day strike, which began on May 1, 2015.

The doctors said former President Olusegun Obasanjo had brokered a truce between the association and the UCH
management.
Six hundred and seventy doctors in the hospital, under the auspices of the National Association of Resident Doctors, have been on strike since May 1 to protest against the non-implementation of a circular reportedly issued by the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation.

The circular dwells on the doctors’ welfare and promotion.
Late on Friday, however, the doctors called off the strike,
explaining that Obasanjo and the Central Council of Ibadan
Indigenes had resolved the disagreement, necessitating the
suspension of the strike for the sake of the suffering patients.
UCH-ARD President, Dr. Lukman Ogunjinmi, said work would resume immediately in the hospital.

He said, “Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, elders in the health sector and CCII elders have intervened in the crisis and work will resume for the sake of the suffering patients.”

You needed to see the drama that happened at the hilltop mansion of OBJ. The strike should have been avoided in the first place. The problem in the health sector is neither JOHESU nor NMA/NARD but the CMDs and the PS FMoH. You needed to see how those CMDs were trying so hard shifting blame to others but thank God for OBJ who told them their sins in their faces. Where is the committee of CMDs?

I think it is high time competent administrators ran our hospitals not these stethoscope-dangling, egocentric comedians.

I think it is high time our health institutions are privatized and allow to be run by competent administrators.
