Y'all complaining about storage space should flash the latest firmware. Also, according to a user, it allows font customization without Root.

I've downloaded mine(1.7GB) but lappy is down at the moment. SS and 'Review' early tomorrow morning!

I did that at the gionee center immediately I got my unit.

Where can I get this phone to buy in Ibadan? I heard I can get it from Microstation, but just want to know if there is anywhere else anyone knows as Iwo Road is a little far.

Someone please post a working method for rooting this phone.. I tried the ones online and after showing the green circle which indicates twrp has been successfully flashed, it still gets replaced by the stock recovery .. Someone pls help

I started downloading the latest firmware for this device when my battery was at a strong 67%. Now, it's at 60% and the download is at 745mb+. And at the same time, I'm watching a movie and 5 other downloads(Scorpion TV series) just completed.

My former phone can't handle a situation like dis.

N.B: I'm using the 'None' Power Optimization
-Highest documented speed 377kb/s(No service at my current position)
-Background apps still running.
-Bluetooth headset mode.

All activities over 1hour+ and I used up just 6-7% of juice

Tell them bro. To those comparing this phone to Tecno and Infinix when it's even expensive than Xiaomi Redmi Note 3GB/32GB version in international markets like gearbest and the rest.

Please how did you root this device? After successfully flashing via sp flash tools, anytime I try booting into recovery, I still see this stock recovery.. Please help bro

Yep. Been through that and I know exactly what you're going through. Just make sure you press the Volume up + power button immediately after flashing it with TWRP and it will take you to a place that has 3 options then select recovery which will take you to TWRP. Note that of you don't use the TWRP recovery to either create a phone backup or root your phone, it will be replaced again so just back up your ROM with it to make the installation permanent and you might need about 5.5GB free space for the backup. Flash the twrp twice..then use Vol+ and power. Choose recovery

yup and indian gionee came with this. Indian M5 has 3gb ram + 32GB internal memory.
why has gionee not offered it as OTA too all n sundry? why confine it to india ?
in this build, everything gets saved in memory card with the option to move the app as well.
changing fonts as stock is a welcome addition
it is more efficient on battery

Yeah but so far the only thing not included is DTS...the sound is not different from the former though

There are a lot of shops that sell phones @ Mokola, Dugbe, Challenge, Apata and all. Solat Telecoms sells Gionee as well.
