I've always wondered why police and other military and civilian forces salute the presidents and senators. I'm a bit confused. Can someone like Dangote be saluted or?

Salutation is one of d oldest way of greeting, it means " I means I hold no harm against u", it marks a sign of respect n loyalty to ur superior. Yes! You are saluting his office and not him as an individual, if u are opportune to watch passing out parade u will see that a governor is recognized by giving him national salute wen he climb the saluting dice n during d national salute the national anthem us half for the Gov n full for the President whom is the reviewing officer or wen a minister represent a president e.g min of defence is given the accord as a president with full national salute.
