INTRODUCTION
Stevenson (2008:184). In other words, the most important
issue is not internet itself but the uses to which it is put, and
such uses are unlikely to be uniform. Internet can be used to facilitate more effective and active citizenship. The internet is the fastest growing medium in history. The digitalization and convergence of computer and telephony technologies, which are the linchpin of the internet, have greatly influenced the way news and information are produced and disseminated. Time and things have indeed changed, globalization has since become a buzz word, and has brought with it change and competition. Internet has become part of our daily life. More and more people are
becoming internet friendly. Since the emergence of internet, journalist and there organization have performed a high
wire act. For broadcasting and print companies their online
news content is what keeps them going.

They have become involved in blogs and even social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. It is blogs and social networking which has played a huge part most recently in the news industry. In a sense, online news is moving towards a “televisation” of the Web with news sites incorporating multimedia enhancements. Much as the mass culture of television was in the 1960s, the digital gestalt is both seductive and repellent. Now, in the Digital Age, the Web’s break with a mostly print-based form of communication will likely be as sharp as those earlier breaks that characterized radio and television.

The question is whether the Web will become only a distribution medium for television (as some scholars believe) when bandwidth technology makes superior video
possible online. Then we will see whether people will prefer
visuals over text. There are many implications to the effect
which the internet has had on journalism and some are
extremely positive but others have proved to cause harm.
Peoples live have been variously affected either positively or negatively, depending on the side of the divide one finds
himself.

What are the positive effects and the negative effects, what have we achieved so far achieved and what have also lost in return? To know all this Click on the link below to continue:
