Ways to improve the Nigerian Football League
By Ola_The_Blogger.

After watching Sunshine vs Heartland FC yesterday which ended nil-nil, I decided to do some research and find some ways to improve the Nigerian Football League, I just don’t understand why I can’t find Enyimba of Aba’s Jersey online (to buy), I don’t understand why we would gladly buy tickets to watch Barca vs Mamelodi Sundowns at Teslim Balogun and we wouldn’t even try to buy tickets of some Nigerian league matches. Seriously, even with some matches that offers free-seats, the turn-out are low, I mean so low that you can hardly find a crowd of 200 in a 1000seater stadium, but when it comes to European League Matches, the total number of all the people at various viewing centres seems to amaze me, yet you have to pay either your favourite team loses or win.

Comments on Nigerian Football League:
Timbros (Nairalander): I remember the good old days when Enyimba was ENYIMBA. The atmosphere use to be so exciting! Supporters club singing non-stop, The arguments, The mockeries..Mehn, Then was the best time to be a fan of any Nigerian Football Club.

George: Bro, that league na nonsense, them day play like mumu.

Dare: A league where almost every team never loses home matches, Gambia league is even better than own league self.

Wale: The league is something else, imagine no away win, even in 1960 bet, the odd of the home team is always far lower than the away team, which means it gonna be a miracle if we have 3 away wins in a week.

Ways to Improve:-
Publicity & Media Coverage: The word ‘media’ has a very strong voice, with the help of the media, Nigeria Football League can be seen and heard everywhere. We need local newspapers, radio stations, television station even Nigeria blog forums to promote the League, Newspapers like Complete Sport need to provide more than one-page for local football news unlike the one-page that contains all the local sport news. Its time for the Nigerian Football league to stand up and fight for the Central Spread. By fighting, am not saying we should petition them, what I mean is increase our media coverage of local football matches, the only company doing that is Supersport, they dedicated a whole SS9 to cover Nigeria League, c’mon we need more of that, The government need to create more channels to air-free matches on our Private owned stations and Government-owned stations, through these can we achieve more popularity.

Stadiums: We need more stadiums, we need to build and we need to improve and maintain the ones we have. The last time I watched Enyimba vs Warri Wolves…OMG, you should see the chair the coaches we sitting on!!! OK Plast Plastic chairs unlike those tall ones with Cover. We need to repair some pitch, repair some viewer’s stands, we need to stop using all those weld gates, The viewers aint prisoners, huh The mobile police or stewards are there to control them. Some goal post self I wonder if they have net, we need to replace them, we need to replace those advertisement stands, the entrance to the stadium needs more encouragement, if we can improve on this noted errors then we can guarantee our viewers and non-followers the best of the best.

Kits & Sponsors: We need to improve the quality of our jerseys, I can’t bear to see our players putting on worn-out torn jerseys, We need to get Addidas, Nike, Umbro to design our jerseys, We need more sponsors not only Glo, Star Lager Beer, we need foreign sponsors Etisalat, infact go as far as getting Chevrolet, BWIN , Samsung, Tecno, Infinix to sponsor our teams. We need quality boots and jerseys not those boots that will fly off because of a long range shot. If we can achieve this, then we are improving the system.

LMC: Ever heard of the League Management Company its been three years since the League Management Company has been established and they are doing very well in regulating our football system, rules and regulations as well as setting standards for clubs in the leagues. But they have do more, more and more to stand out and top the ranking of the best league in Africa. LMC need to fine clubs that don’t meet up to the necessary requirements , fine clubs that don’t pay their players salaries on-time, fine players that break the rules, ban referees that fix matches, ban players that engage in racism. If we can do this, we are finally saying no to racism at the same time. Thumbs up to LMC, they’ve done a great job.

Salary & Bonus: Do you know why Nigerian Football Leagues don’t get that much popularity Salary is one of the main factors. As of the issue of salaries in government owned club, they are f’ing up big time, imagine the players going to sleep in front of the government house for days before they can be payed or assured that their salaries will be paid, It happens in other foreign leagues too but not too this extent, Crystal Palace, West Brom, Reading players do not earn that much but give bonuses that keep the players going. We need to increase the players salaries, create more bonuses, not all this players are gonna be earning the same amount but the least has to earn N250,000 per month. It’s a form of encouragement to the players to know that the clubs care for them.

Online Result: My friend was complaining the other day that he couldn’t find the result of our league matches online, he had to call friends in other state to verify scores, LMC need to create an online platform that update the scores of various matches being played. Each Nigeria Football League club need to have a website that contains vital information that the public needs to know, like scores of their last five matches, transfer market information, stadium and club headquarters address and so on. With this, they can guarantee their supporters more information about the club.

Another thing is to try as much as possible to reduce age cheat. Imagine watching real youngsters display their talents not some 39 year old claiming 17 that is devoid of ball control
