So you live in Nigeria? Congrats and Welcome to the jungle!

There’s three kinds of Nigerians; the lower class, middle class and upper class. If you’re in the lower class, you don’t need to minimize your spending because, let’s face it, you don’t even have ANYTHING to spend. The upper class are probably thinking of how to maximize their own spending, because they have no worries. Now if your in the middle class, you surely want to know how to spend less for more. P.S: If you live in Lagos, you’re going to love these tips. If you don’t, you will still love them

1. TRANSPORTATION
It is ONLY in Lagos that you’ll enter a cab from Surulere to Lekki and pay five thousand naira, I have no idea why Lagos transport is so expensive, anyway to save money, time for cabs, buses all the way; which means you have to wake up early everyday. Also, you should try those big coasters occasionally, because they’re cheaper.Just make sure you secure all your valuables first.

2. FOOD
The best way to save money on food is to STARVE yourself. But if you don’t want to die yet, you shouldn’t do that. Rather, shop your food items ONLY from shoprite (although many of their things are unnecessarily expensive, like how is snickers N120 instead of N100?) or any other certified discount store that you are sure of, or if you know a nearby market, try to become customers of people that can give you bargains. Also, AVOID fast foods, their food is always “too expensive”!

3. CLOTHES
We all want to look fab for next to nothing right? And you also don’t want to wear the same thing everyone in Your hood wears? Well, there are two options;you either travel t nearby Cotonou whenever you want to shop, or you shop ONLINE! You’ll be shocked at the amazing discounts you’ll find online,Try Konga or Jumia.

4. HOUSING
Houses are expensive everywhere in Lagos, the ONLY alternative is to move to Badagry outskirts or continue to live with your parents. If you want independence, then you’ll have to rent an apartment with flatmates, so you can split the rent; just be careful so you don’t end up with a psycho or crazy person.

HAVING A GOOD TIME
Although you don’t have money, you would still love to go out and have a great time with your friends; just follow these tips for a fun day at The Palms, Lekki.
– Eat well before you leave because there will be plenty of small, expensive chops to entice you there.
– Don’t carry your ATM, you will be tempted to spend uncontrollably.
– Go on a Wednesday, movie tickets are N700 only
– Buy your own pop corn and chips outside or buy shoprite snacks & sneak in.
– And If you’re a lady, package yourself well, you may just meet the maga of your dreams.

Finally, you should know that the real Key to minimizing your expenses is self discipline, if you can’t control yourself, you are On Your Own (OYO).
