I am very worried to hear this story.

There are some key questions that need to be asked;

Where are his children? did he not train and empower them?

Does he not earn pension?

Cant he go back to his village?

Over 40 years in service and he did not build one house for himself?

What could have befallen him that set him back so badly?

It has nothing to do with stealing or not stealing?

The story about this man is so pathetic, I do know he had only one daughter but she died in a plane crash sometime ago. He is actually a Rivers man but was known in Rivers state when he was made VC of Uniport. Most of his life has been in Lagos and I think his wife must be a Yoruba. All the same he needs help right now, his pension might be too small to the sickness that has befallen him.

Now i am beginning to understand why corruption isbnot gonna go away in nigeria anytime soon. Rather it will get worse. I pity our generation that worship wealth rather than moral value, discipline and intergrity. Whats this man crime nigeria? Cos he has values?

Lets prevail on the mods to move this to front page, lets discourage stealing and corruption whilr in office by prevailing on the relevant authorities to aid this intellectual gaint even if he did not ask for it. The reason is simple ,neglecting this man sends a wrong message which is steal all you can and anything stealable while in office. But this needs to stop if we wish to mke progress as a country.
Furthermore, those asking what happened to his earnings and savings should not forget that money is a follage in the wind, an ailment can claim one's earnings and savings in minutes. Especially his kind who would rather keep to himself than speak out.
Thanks

you're very right!

Am just sad that university of PH is in the news not actually for a wrong reason.
This man is not a Nigeria. He is from Ghana.
In university of PH, I know they always make an arrangement for a comfortable permanent residential home for their lectures.
We have good plans for our professors esp Vcs.
This man have chosen isolated life so u can blame the university and his cronies

I suspect this prof belongs to a secret cult that forbids him divulging any information about his present predicament. Haba! It beats my imagination that a renowned figure of his type found himself into such deplorable condition. Even when some folks are willing to extend there wherewithal for him, he says no. Na waooo........

Now that the man is still alive needs help, no one to help. The day this man joins his ancestors, you would see the kind of people that would troop out in the name of according him the deserved final respect. Nigerians and hypocrisy are like siames twins. Winston Churchill said and I quote '' You make a living by what you earn, but you make life by what you give ''

I feel sorry for him though I agree that his pension should be sufficient for his upkeep. One lesson learnt in this though is that it's wise to adopt a child when you're still fairly young if you don't have kids. It goes a long way in one's life especially in old age.

its wise to have many baby mamas and at least two children because children will take care of their parents when they are old.. NOTE i said children not RELATIVES or extended family...

Y'all fail to see the poetics in his actions.
It's quite typical of literary icons, professors and others.
My question is doesn't he have kids?
Nigeria has wronged lots of people... We need to right our wrongs.
