Am autoelectrician asked to add a relay to my headlamps to increase the intensity/brightness..please anybody done this before?

Yes, adding a relay to your headlamp may increase the lumens output if everything else is ok i.e your headlamp lens.

Just don't allow an inexperienced electrician to do this for you or else your car may end up in flames one day due to careless taping of wires and leaving electrical components dangling loose in the engine bay. I see that all the time.

It depends.

If the current being switched by the relay is same as the one switching the relay, nothing is achieved. You will need relay only when you need to drive power stronger than your current switching capacity.

Note that poor job on this would lead to other electrical problems - engine and/or transmission malfunction.

Yea, it can actually increae your luminosity if done correctly by an experienced hand.

But, is the risk worth taking?
