The Lagos state police command has described Radio Biafra and Nigeria Merchant Naval Corp as illegal organisations, warning members of the public against dealing with the outfits.

The Lagos state police spokesperson, DSP Joseph Offor, stated that the general public andspecifically Lagosians, should desist from dealing with the criminal groups.

He said: “The Lagos state police command wish to alert members of the public, particularly Lagosians, of the illegal activities of an illegal organization called the Nigeria Merchant Navy Seafarers, Maritime Petroleum Security and Safety Corps.

“The self-styled organization ascribed to itself the fourth arm of the Nigeria armed forces, while its leader, one certain Mr. Agaba, parades himself as a commodore and chief of Nigeria Merchant Naval Staff.

“The group has been illegally conducting training of unsuspecting young Nigerians in Naval related duties in several private camps in at least eleven (11) states of the federation including Lagos and the federal capital territory, Abuja.

“The command would like to use this medium to advise the public to avoid any dealing with the illegal organization as they do not enjoy any federal government recognition, please.”

Offor also stated that a group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under the leadership of one Mr. Nnamdi Kanu and Mr. Ikenna Nwanoneyi is also illegal.

“This clandestine group have their base at Abia state. Its primary objective is agitation for an independent state of Biafra through secession from the Nigeria federation.

To actualize this objective, they founded an illegal station know as Radio Biafra and effectively deployed it to brain wash unformed members of the public and luring them to embrace violence.

An illegal organisation operating in 11 states of the federation including the seat of the central government and you are here only dissuading the public not to do businesses with such an outfit?

Something is wrong somewhere.
