PDP Senator Blast Jonathan For Playing God In Bayelsa by Nobody: 5:24pm On Sep 17, 2015
The director general of the campaign organisation of Senator Emmanuel Paulker, renewal 2015, Ayakeme Whisky has lashed out on the former president and the Peoples Democratic Party in Bayelsa state for depriving the lawmaker from the state’s gubernatorial race. Jonathan At the party’s zonal screening committee in Port Harcourt, Rivers state last weekend, Paulker was disqualified alongside a former Chairman of Kolokuma/Opokuma local government area, Chief Ebikitin Diongoli, Daily Post reports. After the screening, only Governor Dickson was successfully cleared, leaving him as the sole contender for the governorship election. Former president Goodluck Jonathan had endorsed the state governor, Seriake Dickson as the PDP candidate for the Bayelsa poll slated for three months’ time.
The endorsement came after the governor had reconciled with the former first lady, Patience Jonathan. According to Jonathan, Dickson has performed in very key areas that has affected the state positively. However, Paulker’s campaign director faulted Jonathan’s choice saying that the disqualification of the Senator was deliberate choreographed plots by those who believed they could play God in the lives of men. Whisky noted that one of the spurious allegations against the senator that he did not attach his tax documents alarming to the campaign organisation. The campaign director said that the allegation was unbelievable and laughable. He wondered why a sitting senator who ordinarily should have nothing barring him should be whimsically disqualified by the same party that allowed him to represent it in a senatorial election barely six months ago. He said Paulker who was a close friend to Jonathan had been in the senate for more than eight years and had been paying his taxes. According to The Punch, Whisky, who is also a member of an association within the party, the PDP Unity Group said the campaign team was flustered by the seeming inability of the PDP to learn from its mistakes.
He noted that the woeful defeat of the PDP during the last presidential election was due to its total disrespect for internal democracy. He regretted that while the main opposition party in the state, the All Progressives Congress had thrown its door open to 19 aspirants, the PDP had closed the doors against all other aspirants, leaving Dickson as the sole candidate. Whisky said: “We make bold to say that posterity will vindicate the just and history will punish the wicked.” Governor Dickson became very happy as his re- election bid has received a new boost following the stepping down of Reuben Okoya, a gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party. The deputy national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Engr Segun Oni had disclosed that the party would be fair to all in the forthcoming primary in the state, saying no corner will be cut in the conduct.
