Friday's message
Its another beautiful Friday which is the third Friday in 9th month. Woke up this morning and these questions droppedon my mind and I would be sharing some things about these questions.
Is my name in the book of life? Is your name in the book of life?
So many times and children of God we assume we are doing the right thing all in the name of being spiritual, whereas we are just doing what we feel we needed to do or what people expects us to do. Romans 8:16 says "The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Two spirits were mentioned in this passage, the Holy spirit and our human spirit. We'd all agree that two spirit cannot testify with themselves except they are in tandem with each other, which means that the Holy spirit and our human spirit cannot testify if they are not in agreement. It is only when both spirits are in agreement that they can work in synergy to fulfill God's purpose. This is the reason why need to put ourselves under checks regularly to decipher if we are actually doing the things we do according to the will of God or our own will or the will of men.
The next verse of the passage quoted earlier said something very important which most of us like to dissociate from. Romans 8:17-Now if we are children, then we are heirs —heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. This takes me to the questions of the day.
If our names are not written in the book of life, its not a bad news for those of us who are still living because there'sa way out. All we need to do is to firstly acknowledged ourselves as sinners, confess those sins of ours even though Christ knows the sins more than we ourselves, he expects us to take responsibilities for our actions rather than justify our shortcomings. King David laid a precedent in psalms 51 after he sinned against God. After confessing our sins we should beliee in our hearts that we are saved according to Romans 10:9-10 "If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord ,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. [10] For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
Now we are saved and all glory to God, but it doesn't end there. Some teachers of the gospel would tell us that once you're saved, you're forever saved. This is not true and that's why Apostle Paul admonished us in Phillipians 2:12b-13 continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, [13] for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose." Also in Romans 12:2 "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is —his good, pleasing and perfect will." Salvation is continuous do not be deceived, and the knowledge of God is also continuous.
Finally I would like to end with the exhortation of Apostle Paul in Ephesians 6:10-20.
Remember Mark 16:16 "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
Accept Jesus Christ today, tomorrow maybe too late.
Thanks for reading.
