The Code of Conduct Tribunal sitting in Abuja on Tuesday adjourned the false declaration of assets case involving the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, to October 21.

The Senate President is facing a 13-count charge bordering on alleged false declaration of assets.

Saraki, who appeared at the tribunal on Tuesday, pleaded not guilty to all the charges when they were read out to him.

Counsel to both parties argued back and forth in a bid to swing the case in their favour.

Saraki’s lead counsel, Joseph Daudu (SAN), had earlier tried to stop the Senate President from taking his pleas in the dock.

After Saraki pleaded not guilty to the charges, the tribunal granted him bail on self-recognition.

The prosecution did not oppose the tribunal’s decision to release Saraki on bail.

The matter was later adjourned to October 21 by the presiding judge.

Hmmm, so fast? Saraki did what every Nigerian should when the state or oppressive powers rise against you: seek all legal means to ensure your freedom. He did not run away; he only appealed to the law of the land. That is the rule of law.

Wow FTC..Thanks mod for deleting that spammer's comment..

When the sentence for a crime is not quickly carried out, people's hearts are filled with schemes to do wrong...Ecclesiastes 8:11

I hope Saraki will quietly return to Kwarans the loots in his custody before the adjourn date.

Of course , he is a senate President so they can be sure he won't run away which is the whole point if bail.

Nothing changes the fact that he was thoroughly embarrassed today grin

Saraki maybe guilty of all those allegations, which is a common thing amongst Nigerian politicians,...buh the question is, would saraki be indicted if he had not assumed the post of a senate president? undecided

This case may likely get to the Supreme Court and by then Saraki would have finished his first term. Whose case is next?
